Well sorta on subject. Does anyone know if it is posible to do footwell lighting in an LT Zetec. Not the most mechanically minded person and would not like to start pulling the wife's pride and joy apart without some degree of success.

This has been brought up before. There are actually plastic fittings in the footwell for twist in bulb holders. In them you can fit the actual bulbs.

Apart from the XR5/TDCi there isn't any wiring there so you'll need to hook into the dome light door lighting for power and make a loom to each footwell.

Yeah mate, did it in my car. Unfortunately not as easy as the XR5s. I took the A-pillars off, all the drivers and passenger side kick panels, then ran wiring from the overhead lamp +ve down the drivers A-pillar to the footwell. Solder an LED inline with a resistor, then take -ve from the drivers side LED and run it through the front of the centre console to the +ve of the next LED in the passenger footwell (with a resistor in first), then ran the -ve up the passenger side A-pillar to the -ve on the overhead lamp.

Damn, : I was hoping it would be find the ends and plug in a bulb. Guess I might have to be a little more adventuous, But the footwell lighting does look so good in some of your photos.

I unfortuanetly did mention this as a project to the wife who now wants. Guess I should have asked you blokes first before opening my big mouth.

Thanks

So you should have 4 keys, The curved edge of the key should be facing inward towards the middle of the deck. These should insert to almost where the ring handles on the keys start. It should sort of click into place and aren't removable until the deck is pulled out.

Its been ages.

I pulled all the cables and connectors off the back, took off the knobs with a cloth whilst wriggleing it left and right, and sort of rotated the unit face up or down (forget) and slid it backward.

ahh ok i'll give that a go tmro.. sorry to ask 50 questions but while i've got the radio indoors i took the cover off and removed heaps of screws but it seems the power button is keeping the circuit board down does the power/volume button pull off or did you remove the solder on the back?

and there was me thinking the hvac controls would be easy :(

Ah god I remember that sight!

Leave the HVAC controls screwed in, grab a pair of stilsons and a towel. Wrap the towel around each of the dials (individually...), and set the stilsons around them. Jiggle them side to side and pull at the same time. It'll come off alright. To get the idea, do the fan speed knob first, it's the easiest one to get off. The other ones are a bugger. Then after that, take the cables out the back and she slides out! Good luck!

Man don't need no tools, just muscle and pain :P

With the radio, its the most scariest thing I've done, I had about 4 cracks at it, chickening out and putting the dash back together each time, before I managed to get the board off the front face. I levered from both sides the circuit board from the face with a little strength, and a lot of wincing from the feeling your going to break something.

Yeah man I know all about that. That stupid little volume knob really doesn't like coming off!!! Felt like the whole PCB was about to snap in half when it popped out!

I did, but if I had the time to go back and do it again, I'd probably change it to a white one. With blue behind red it doesn't really come out all that well. I'd do the same for the blue heat one, even though the blue leds show up the blue heat control better anyway. Looking forward to seeing some pics mate
