Mavarick would have had NO competitor. Bronco and Bronco Sport both have a uniquely modernised retro look that's not unlike the appeal of the departed Toyota FJ Cruiser. Again, these would have led people to the Ford brand that want something a bit different. Mustang did the same. Again, just lazy.

I see Suzuki is offering a stripped out Jimny at a reduced price, not something you'd expect a manufacturer to do when it suggests it has up to 12 month wait on the more expensive versions, again, lucky to see 1 a week. |

RAM doesn't count because:
A) V8 B) American ute Thats priced around the same as the upper spec Thailand specials for the RAM Express. Patrol is also in response to ridiculously extortion pricing of the LC200 running out. |

4.0L V6 Hilux,
4.0L V6 Navara 2.5L Ranger Sold SFA in Australia, all discontinued with poor sales, two of those cars are in the top five every month consistently. Here's another reason to stay away from FCA products: 40,000km on the clock, $2000 water pump. Heart says Chrysler 300 SRT Core, head says WNII Holden Caprice V |

You made the statement that petrol 4x4's never sell well here. I named 3. No they aren't all successful but if don't right, they can be.
I better not buy another Ford product then. The transmission failed in mine at 30000km. |

The front end on the render is horrid and i fear not too far off the finished item. Ford have gone all AU in terms of polarising styling with these next batch of offroad offerings and im not sure that it'll catch on here, on a niche product perhaps, but not on everything in that segment. |

If the new Everest looks anything like that article…
That will be the end of it, I’d suspect it will look more like the new maverick’s front end

ski plus trailer well under 1100KG. done the river run to Murray bridge at least 8 times in 4 months, and goolwa once. it sit on the road ABSOLUTELY rock solid and delight to tow with. only time the rev start to rise while towing, is on a steep hill for a few seconds, then its quickly back to normal once the peek is reached. FG revs would be lower at same hills of course. no contest there. pulling it out of the river is easier as well. the new FORD mini SUV look hot, no doubt about it, and i am sure are very capable.

necessarily mean that Bronco or Bronco Sport would equally fail. The same argument was made regarding Mustang, the crux being that a two door like Monaro didn’t sell in significant numbers, the Mustang would struggle even more. It’s an unequal comparison when subtle differences can and do change the outcome. I have no idea if Ford will ever offer Bronco, Bronco Sport, or Maverick in RHD markets but to not even consider them as a lure for high value buyers is a bit of a tragedy. Ford needs to do something different otherwise nothing changes….. |

Yes, terrible for them to be in the top 5 manufacturers every month on a little island in the middle of the pacific.

Re: the FJ… I hated them when released in Aus… “tryhard retro” I thought.
Popular as hell here though. There’s 5.. I know of in our small area, one owned by a mate I go fishing with often, and I love driving the thing.. Its a 2014 and even with over 100,000 very hard Ks on it fells like a new car..It is the real deal off road, (believe me, this place eats 4x4s) they’re super comfy, great on the highway, and still easily pull 30k (US$) here! Also mentioned… The Suzuki Jimny… Great Great little 4x4… Old ones are everywhere (every Tico has a beaten up old Jimny) The latest ones are brilliant, cheap (for HERE!) at around 27k for the basic spec. (I drove a 2020 one up through the mountains behind us, and SO much easier than my Wrangler) They, however appear to have become the expat Gringos newest fashion accessory? Where the new arrivals first purchase used to be a side by side Rhino, or Polaris, they’re now all in new Jimnys! Horses for courses I spose

Hyundai are top 3 every month, does that mean Hyundai are better than Ford, or Ford just dont have enough variety to rise above 5th regularly? Last edited by BENT_8; 24-06-2021 at 11:48 AM. |

Lol, they wont do anything different whilst people line up to buy the stuff they do allow us to have and i'll go out on a limb and say if people stopped buying the Ford product they do provide, Ford wouldn't expand its range, it'd shut up shop and blame the consumer.
As for Mustang, niche product, who else is offering a V8 coupe for under 70k? The novelty has worn off there too, a good month cracks 300 units. |

But nah, retro doesn't work Bronco Sport is also selling well above expectations. And the Maverick already had 36,000 reservations within the first week after reveal. Ford USA is killing it atm. All their new products have just gone mental in terms of orders. It's making them re-evaluate the power that iconic vehicles hold, and doing a lot of number crunching trying to see where else they can use them. The VW/Ford BEV will be an interesting concept. That will be something different. |

I don't care about the leader board. Some carry on like they are invested personally.

Those same dullards think the GM way, of selling heaps of cars to stay number 1, while having to discount the hell out of them just to get numbers, while marching straight towards bankruptcy, is the best way to sell cars because you get bragging rights. It's thinking straight from the 90's. Hardly anyone does that anymore. It's all about profit margins now. If you aren't getting 8-10% EBIT then you aren't competitive anymore. It's the reason why most manufacturers have jacked up prices significantly. Some might tolerate having 20k driveaway price leaders, others simply will not do that anymore. The market has changed significantly in the past 5 years. And more of them are jumping on the bandwagon with every new model release. Especially Toyota, whose prices have gone through the roof every time they release a new model. |

Price increase's are a given today, covid has brought on huge price rise's across the board re components/steel throw in shipping costs as well.
Yes agreed Boss, your either in the high volumes low margin or less volume higher margin game. In this current climate and expect it being this way for sometime I know where I'd rather be.

All I’m saying is why not try something different to the competition that may suit Ford’s purposes in attracting more high value buyers. I know that the reality is that Ford won’t do any more than what’s available now. |

News flash, this isnt the US, just because it works there doesnt mean it'll work here, infact history suggests it wont except for the only V8 coupe on the market at average Joes budget and that is in small numbers. |
