I know exactly where ours is going. First is a huge shop! Stocking up on pantry/toiletries/laundry items aswell as formula, baby food, nappies. Going to fill the fridge and both freezers to their limits! I'll be getting my daughter a highchair & walker. All the kids will (as they did with last years handout) get clothes/runners/school shoes/new uniforms and a set amount of spending money to buy themselves something. I'm paying out my sons VCAL fees. I only have 5 months left on my car loan so I won't bother with that. We have nothing else (other than the essentials) that we need so whatevers left gets put away for week to week living costs.

I could buy a new couch (ours is 20+ years old!) and some clothes for myself, maybe put a stally back in the AU lol but then I can't do any of the above if I did any of that. I hate priorities LOL.

I know I definitely qualified to receive this not-so-free money.

The question is, when would I be due to receive it, as I'm categorised as a single, 'low-income' earner. I did file a tax return for the '07-'08 period, as well.

The newspapers said monday, I checked my bank account yesterday and it definitely hadn't been deposited yet. I've heard that certain people get it at certain times, too, but this wasn't covered by the newspapers, unfortunately. Monday was a public holiday, so to my understanding, the money should have been deposited Tuesday and appeared Wednesday, if all went well (which it didn't).

I'd say that I'll be shafted until a later time in the month(s).

Any thoughts/comments?

Stimulus Payment Info.

"This year, taxpayers will receive an Economic Stimulus Payment. This is a very exciting new program that I will explain using the Q and A format:

Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment?
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q. Where will the government get this money?
A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?
A. Only a smidgin.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment?
A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set or some such thing, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China ?
A. Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the Australian economy by spending your stimulus cheque wisely:

If you spend that money at Kmart, all the money will go to China .
If you spend it on petrol it will go to the Arabs.
If you purchase a computer it will go to India .
If you buy a car it will go to Japan .
If you purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan .

And none of it will help the Australian economy.

We need to keep that money here in Australia. You can keep the money in Australia by spending it at garage sales, going to a cricket match or footy game, or spend it on beer and wine (domestic ONLY), or tattoos, since those are the only businesses that may still be owned by Aussies

I'll put it towards my tax bill due later this month which goes a way to helping subsidise everyone's children... Didn't a financial analyst say a family earning 55k a year pays no tax anyway due to the welfare handouts they get given... The whole system is a bad joke.

I get it.. Didnt think i would but i do, lucky for tax deductions!

Wont be spending it, i just bought a new car and some goodies for it, like a car bra, tint etc etc... I think Australia does well outta people like me who spend most of our money on Australian made labor.
