Default Location of Temp Sensor for Trip Computer - Here it is!

Ok, I've spent at least 4 hours looking for the location of where this temperature sensor is meant to be installed. Of course, that was my problem ... I was looking, when I should've been feeling! :

So, for future reference for anyone who does the trip computer upgrade for their LR Focus, here is a picture of the location of the sensor. You first need to remove the air-guidance plastic trim peice off of the back of the grill, and then you should see the layout as per below. The sensor actually clips into two holes that are below and slightly forward of the metal ridge shown here. The holes are square, so if you shove your hand down the gap between the metal shown here and the radiator and push your fingers forward, you should feel them.

Hopefully this may save someone the time that I've spent looking for this location! You'll have to excuse the mess under the bonnet; it's been raining for a few days now.

Well done. Good information to have.

But what has happenned to your vehicle build plate? I've marked where it should be...you can see the holes where it is supposed to be pop riveted in

Hehe ... thanks photn. I sometimes feel that I ask too many questions, and don't "add" enough to this forum, so, here is some of my input. ;) I'm going to just add the washer low level sensor to my existing bottle, and not worry about getting the correct Ghia bottle. From what I can gather, the place for the sensor hole is recessed anyway, but just doesn't have the hole in it. Should be easy. :

Melbzetec ... now you've really got me worried. Surely it can't be where you've indicated, because there is another cover (that I've removed for this photo) that completely covers that area. I'm seriously worried now ... !! : By the build plate, do you mean the one that is on the left of my photo? With the build date, vin etc on it?

Hmmm ... I've had a thought. Is it because it was factory Auto, they haven't put the build plate there because they knew it would be covered up?

All together now ... WHEW ... that's a relief. Thanks anyway Steve, it's because of your comments that I have now researched and found out about the auto air deflector, and it's "performance enhancing qualities". ;)

My apologies.

Where I marked is where it sits in the manual. And if you fit the auto air deflector it covers it up, so yes, the automatic models would have it somewhere else (like on the left of the photo!!!!)

Sorry to panic you!!! :

It's not hard to be smarter than me Adam.....as you keep reminding me, I'm getting old :

Question about the build plate. I have got the auto air deflector on my car so it covers up the build plate. Is it illegal to take the build plate off and relocate it to where the auto one is. Also wouldn't it have been easier for Ford just to put it in the auto spot?

Well, I'm not 100% on the legality of it, but if you put it in the same place as mine I can't see any reason why anyone would pick you up on it ... given that it's in the same place as mine, they would be just as likely to pick me up for it (and it's in the factory spot!) If you know what I mean ...

I think that that act of removing it may be illegal though?

Best off leaving it Adam. Not even the cops could deny the car is stock with the auto intake, not a cop on the planet would know otherwise, just explain it's under the intake.

Always thought, if you were really paranoid, cut a rectangle piece from the air deflector, and replace it with a perspex piece so you can see thru it!
