Farrk. So, Mr. Toyota, are they really worth the extra $30,000 over the nearest equivalent Patrol?

Well you get a fair bit more engine for the money too in the turbo diesel department.

so 75 kay for a standard GXL V8?
I dont think sales will be as high as Toyota would like, the old model was mid 50's for a V8... 20 kay more?? I don't think people will pay that, specially not people wanting to lease as theres there implications for them over 57 kay.

The Lc200 computer wise as you say is no different to the Lc100, though there is a new hydraulic suspension system called KDSS (Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System) developed over in WA, the new system is meant to optimally adjust Front and rear stabilizer bars for on and off road handling.
LSTG: Yes the current special on a v8 gxl is $56990 drive away, but before that retail was $63,274 + ORC. Yes its a price hike, but so far hasn't stopped us, we've pre sold our allocation to march next year. |

They could sell a touring pack TDI AWD with HD tow TS>Ghia spec with Sports leather trim and Satnav DVD for 65-70 easy. I know that the natural competitor is the Prado not the LC but in the market they compete with used LCs everyday. IMHO there is the need for the Terri update to offer 2 versions - 1 more citySUV oriented, versus Kluger & co. And 1 more touring oriented, TDI approach/dep angles retained version, versus Prado, LC etc. It's still no offroader in the true sense but could easily be tailored more to what is a growing market of See Ozzers, and serve them very well. |

A diesel option would open up 25% more of the medium SUV market to Territory, factory LPG would help too. Diesel Prado gets plenty of sales where shopped against Territory purely because of no diesel option for touring range. Vfacts would tell you that anyday, so would a trip to any school carpark around 3.30pm. Even Tom Gorman is on record saying as much. BTW if you have 3 in car seats like us then Toyota can offer you the Tarago, Prado and kluger don't work - friends currently have that dilemma right now, 3rd bub, Subaru Outback too small, Prado too narrow, Kluger middle row has 2 anchors. He's a Toyo man, even drives a Prius |

My understanding is that the diesels don't have a sub tank anymore!!! Seems like one step forward in one direction but a big step back in another....

Yes one tank for VX and Sahara, 2 for the GXL,
Kluger has 3 anchor point in middle row. Kluger missed out by out selling ther terror by 40 units in its first month. See how it goes once vfacts comes through this month. Kluger 1510 inside width Prado 1520 " " " " I do agree with most of what your saying, and also explains why every 1 awd terror sold 2 2wd's are sold. |

$100,000 TDV8 Land Cruiser VX
$109,000 TDV8 Range Rover Sport I think I know which I would prefer.

Kluger = Teritory competitor/Pathfinder
Prado = Patrol LC200 = its its own competitor. patrol is same price as prado, offers the same off road ability as prado, and same engine sizes/spces as prado, nothing seems to pull its weight to compare to the LC200 either in engine/size or off road ability, even the suspention system was designed in WA to suit OUR conditions better, they are bigger and more competant off road, should have video footage when my GM gets back from the daintree as they are off for a week doing evaluations up there on the 200 series.

TDV8 VX Landcruiser is $89'990, not $100,000 my mistake! still even at that price I would still go the Rangie Sport, oh and yeah I do realise that there is the cheaper GXL, but do you really want a near $80,000 base model car?

Let me know what you get that makes it so basic? and I'm sure most people have seen how well the range rover sport performs off road in that top gear episode.

In regards to Kluger sales amounts, it'll be hard to compare it. I'm not sure what the production capacity of the Territory is and whether or not they have plenty of free and available stock, but take it from a Toyota stock controller when I say that Kluger would sell a truckload more if Toyota could supply more. Unfortunately they cannot.

The term base model is thrown around a lot... but it's hard to understand how you say it when the term 'base' model for a ve commodore and the term 'base' model for a 200 landcruiser would both indicate very different spec levels.
For starters, Toyota refers it as "entry level" for this very reason. The term 'base model' is too quick to pounce on the model as if it comes with nothing. I think you'll find you're way off with the spec that a 200 series GXL will come with.
