Hello. My 3 year old granddaughter Mia (above) has recently been diagnosed as deaf. She has been fitted with little pink hearing aids, and has started an early intervention outreach program through the Brisbane based, Hear and Say Centre. The Centre aims to give deaf children, speech and language in the normal range by the age of 6 years old. This gives them the opportunity for a mainstream education, more employment options and social integration with the hearing world. If you would like to learn more about the Hear and Say Centre, you can visit the website http://www.hearandsaycentre.com.au/ The intensive therapy is expensive and costs the Centre an average of $10,000 a year, per child. The Centre has been wonderful with Mia and still accepted her into the program, despite my daughter and her family being able to afford fees. My daughter Amanda has organised a big Party in the Park to run on Sunday, November 2nd from 10am - 2pm at Scarness Park, Hervey Bay. There will be lots of stalls, rides for the kids, face painting, free entertainment, displays from the local police and fire station, kids craft activities, raffles and lots more. A big part of the day will be an auction held at the Scarness Park stage area. There will be lots of great items up for Auction including Ford Memorabilia such as framed hats, a Marcus Ambrose autographed model car, Russell Ingall's autographed Championship crew shirt, Stone Brothers team shirt signed by James Courtney and Shane Van Gisbergen, FPR Team shirt, autographed by Craig Lowndes and Glen Seton all framed. I hope all you locals could pop along on the day and support a great charity. TIA, Glenn. * Also posted in The QLD meets and Maryborough Ford Car Club forums |

Hey mate, sorry to hear the bad news about your beautiful grand daughter. I would love to attend but being on the other side of australia is unfortunate.
I wish you and your family the best of luck and hope she has the most possible normal life that most of us on here had. Best Wishes, buddy. |
