Gday guy's and girls, We have put down our order for a 09 built and plated LV XR5 focus, Frozen white/ blue stripes, sunroof. ( Wife's new Taxi )
Delivery date is expected sometime April. We wanted leather but the problem is that it becomes a 4 seater with the option. : ...... so cloth will have to do. We cant wait for it to arrive, it's got to be one of the best looking hot hatches around. Cheers Mick. |

Congrats on the purchase mate. You're gonna love the car, even coming from a Pursuit!
Head over to www.fordxr5turbo.com. They've got a mad following after the XR5T and there's a lot of cruises organised over there, if you're interested in that. Otherwise the whole forum is a wealth of information on everything possibly imaginable about that car! Congrats again! Can't wait to see photos!!

Good choice, the white with blue OTT stripes is the best combo.

You can always do an aftermarket leather fit to make it look identical to factory while retaining the 5 seats...
Look at http://www.doylesleather.com.au/ in Sydney as a guide, there would surely be one similar in Melbourne. Doyles do an INSANELY good job and can even do a custom interior if you wish, maybe even charcoal leather but with subtle blue stitching to match the stripes, for roughly the same price as factory leather.

Look deep enough on the XR5T site and you'll find some nice piccys of aftermarket leather done at essentially the same cost as purchasing leather stock (albeit you miss out on heated seats).

that's awesome news dude. I pick mine up soon (22days, 20hrs, 35 mins roughly... but who's counting, right?)
I think i actually need to stop reading the xr5forums. it's giving me too many ideas before i even own the car. Things like the $50 ecu spacer, de-resonating which isn't worth much more, dreamscience..... oooo damnit! I can't help myself.

How's the wait times on the Focus XR5 Turbo's in Metro Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane? I seem to recall a while ago it was fairly lengthy?

Mine was quick.
I wasn't fussed about getting an 09 plate, infact an 08 made it cheaper, and i could have picked it up a week after talking to cumberland ford about it but i needed another 4 weeks to organise finance and to finish saving for my deposit. pursuit: It's Electric Orange, even in Sydney's crappy overcast rainy weather that we've got at the moment, the colour just jumps up and sucker punches you. I also got the leather and the sunroof. It's seriously an amazing car!. Goes like absolute stink, and even in the water-logged conditions (it hasn't stopped raining for nearly a week) it's sure-footed, smooth and quiet... well, at least until you jump on the loud pedal. The sound is something else!. Now I've just just got to keep my urges under control and try not to start modding it. Although i think i'm gonna work out the submarine lights soon. I have become rather fond of them in my old car. BTW, are you sure you ordered the overhead stripes AND the sunroof?? because you can't have both from the factory. I know some guys on the XR5 forums have had it done aftermarket, but i know for a fact you can't get it factory with both.

update
Just put the submarine lights in. Wow, that was stupidly easy. I didn't even have to rummage around the wiring loom to find the plugs, they're already in place. I've put left over blue bulbs in, but i think i want red. Then i've just got to rig up a switch so they run constantly when i want.

HAH!, no. If I change the rotors over (which i WILL do when these ones are shagged) I'll probly do em silver like i did on the LR.
It's subtle and tidy, and less ****y. Damnit steve, stop making me think about these things! it's your fault i threw all that money at my last car by planting the ideas in my mind!
