It's full of smoke in Narre South. Plenty of fires around the joint (localised ones) + the Kilmore one.
Photo was about an hour ago, but now we are fully clouded under smoke.

Newsbreak has just stated that the fire in Bunyip has jumped containment lines
and is headed for a power station, putting Melbourne's supply in jeopardy.

Just imagine putting on your fire suit, boots and fighting fires. I feel for em and most are volunteers. I cant go out for 5 minutes at the moment as my eyes start running and I feel like crap! Very eerie outside now.

The ferntree gully one I think is in / near the old Quarry, I used to go to school around there.
About 1k east of the pub.

That is really close to me and there is smoke EVERYWHERE! We are only a few kilometres from the base of Mt Dandenong and from my front porch I can't even see it because of the blanket of smoke.

Makes you wonder about those firey's who have actually been found to have started some fires in the past, perhaps some of these current ones too. I don't think they understand the ramifications afterwards and how hard in these conditions it is to fight it.

Which power station? Lets hope none of the fires in the SE hit the open cut mines.

I knew it was hot today but I didnt think it was all that bad. I don't even have my aircon on, just a fan. And yes I have been outside in it. In fact I went to the gym in it; and no it's not airconditioned. Must be because there is a breeze (or should I say squally wind) even if it is actually a hot wind. The hot days we had 2 weeks ago had no breeze. Mind you I had to turn my TV off because it's overheating lol.

Wish that wind will die down. All hazy and smells of smoke here in Sunbury

Heres the CFA website that gives all the fire updates.

Apparently a CFA truck has been lost in Whittlesea just recently, wind turned and the guys had to run for their lives

One of my cousins may have lost their house too in Humevale, isnt confirmed though

Hopefully the change comes soon and the wind drops enough for them to get it in control

I find this ironic, Victoria is on fire and Queensland is under water...

In traralgon itself we are pretty safe but for the towns that are a little closer to the plantations and bush areas, this wind change is just about the death nail.

Ok, we had a fire here. Way too close for comfort, about 100 metres away.
I'll post some pics up later.
All happened in an hour. Saved a house and a boat, possible some residents too.

Thats absoulutly insane down there those pics in Taralgon really do tell the story and looking at the time they were taken it was early afternoon.
Victoria is on fire and up and here in QLD the far north is under water.

Hope the fire services have a good night tonight wish them all the best they are true heroes, hats off to them.

Ok Guys, here they are.
Whilst I had 2 camera's (normal digital and phone), I also helped out, I wasn't just a person to film it.
We saved a boat, a house and some residents. Most of the pics I did (and or vids), I had a hose in my hand or a bucket waiting my turn.
The water pressure was very low, so we had to wait for buckets etc etc.
Just some people will critisze some people taking shots and not helping out.
A couple of times we were overcome with smoke and had to back away.

It was most frustrating, just trying to help out with no resources, firey's were stretched to the limit, they arrived a bit too late. Approx 5-8 houses were lost.

I just spent the afternoon at Mernda/Sth Morang and it was lucky for that wind change otherwise the whole gorge area and housing estates I reckon would of been in very big danger. The biggest growth area in Vic could of been up in smoke. It got to about 300m of houses before the southerly kicked in and it went the other way.

The severity of the Kinglake to Kilmore blaze looked worse as night kicked in, the whole mountain range is glowing red. I know quite a few from Kinglake and St Andrews so hopefully they are ok. A passer by said Whittlesea is in a bad way too
