Default AU I6 performance mods.

Hey all,

New threads keep popping up regarding increasing performance for the au six. As many of us know there are numerous things that can be done.

I think a performance thread (driveline only) listing the types of modifications that can be done, their approximate costs from new, estimated power increases, and some brief facts/info would be useful for all members. Once some good discussion has been had the thread could be moved to

Useful AU threads - LOOK HERE BEFORE POSTING A NEW THREAD!! (Under the “if its an I6 you have look here section”.

I will start it off with some of the things I am aware of. Now I am no expert and that’s why I believe that such a thread would be useful for those like me.

Performance plugs $45
Performance ignition leads $90 (up to 4kws)

XR6T or Tickford snorkel $50
High Flow air conversion (pod/ high flow filter/ intake pipes) $100- $300

Headers/ Extractors $300-$800
Sport exhaust $300- $600 (5 -15% kw gains)

High performance cam shaft $400- $500

We try to update the list when required , The basic aim is to make it easyer for the next AUer that comes along , That said, thread is set up more as a how to guide with a few good ideas thrown in.To list all the mods as said, it would be come unworkable with pages of differant ideas and costings which would result in pages of searching, How ever if you wish to do a complete costing and result thread on your car feel free to post it here and if suitable the link will be posted for you .. there are 2 or 3 post awaiting to be linked up as soon as me or RG or a mod gets a hour to spare to go through them
Regards Whoosha
