Geoscience Australia has it at 8.5Mag http://www.ga.gov.au/earthquakes/
Good news is no Tsunami threat (at least for Australia) http://www.bom.gov.au/tsunami/

The threat still remains for a tsunami in 28 countries.... Got friends in phuket currently who are saying water is receding at present.... After shocks are being felt too...
The earthquake was 8.6 and is one of the worlds top 10 earthquakes to hit now in 100 years fingers crossed nothing comes from this |

Mum, Dad and my sister are there now too. My friends in the US Navy say the plates moved horizontally so the likelihood of a tsunami is greatly reduced.
I'm still quite worried for them though.

No tsunami with massive waves can ever occur by a earthquake that is horiztonal
According to study and in this case its proved correct Another massive earthquake occured today in Mexico |

2012 is beginning lol. Seriously but, things mother nature wise have been pretty chaotic this last year or so. Hope it doesn't get worse. Very glad there was no major tsunami with 1000's dead.

^^^ the last 30 days has seen over 7000 earth quakes more than usual but who knows what is happening down below
