Better in resin than nothing. I'll take one and eagerly await EF-EL XRs, EB GT, EB-ED XRs, then maybe swing back around for 1:18 AU XRs and T Series??

Resin Models are crap, it's a shame they are going that way now.

I have a BF GT 40th resin model and it falls apart sitting in my sealed glass cabinet as the glue comes unstuck and bits just fall off it, very disappointing.

Its within spec...LOL

But in saying that I sympathise, I haven't bought any resin models which is hurting because they are some I really want but the manufacturers are chasing out and I am not paying $200+ for plastic.

I'm a big fan of resin models. I have the 2011, 2012 Bathurst 12 hour winners made by spark and they are superb. Apex also do a good job with resin.

But biante's efforts with the BF 40th GT, cobra ute and sedan were just crap. I had all 3 on pre order but did not purchase them when they were released. Parts falling off, glue around windows.

From what I have seen biante's effort this time around is much better. I know they would prefer to make cars in diecast but it's not financially viable when you only sell in such small numbers.

This one looks really good. As a subject matter, that is. Second Leadfoot81 - I'd love to see EBII-EL and AU XR's in 1:18, instant purchases here. Then again, I did get burned with the first 1:18 XY GS Fairmont, with the non-factory 302 Cleveland motor, so I think pre-inspection is a must...

Resin is nothing to fear if you have worked with it as a hobbyist.

Yep, exactly what happened to mine, windows fell out, back seat rattles around inside car, back axle mounts came off and had to be glued back on.

Then there is the fact that my metal models all have opening doors, bonnet and boot, with nice details inside, some models are displayed with doors and bonnet open in my glass cabinet I especially bough for the purpose.

I have tried collecting one of each model road car GT's, so would love to add the EL to my collection, but a bit reluctant selling out big $$ for what is essentially a $15 plastic model car.

Just seems like you are paying the same but getting less.

Can't open doors bonnet etc, personally I think it's a shame it has gone this way, but I guess that's just life, maximum profit for an inferior product with little regard for loyal customers, it was only a matter of time before Biante caught onto the business model of most businesses in 2016.

In saying that the EL in the photos does look pretty good, with good detail but no opening doors etc

I wonder if no one bought them if they would go back to metal.

But it's not likely to happen, consumers will consume....

Not sure don't follow the models religiously, the first time I struck it was with the BF GT 40th and BF GT Cobra release.

That was quite a few years ago now, at least 4 I think, and it was also the last model I bought.

BF models for Biante was the start I believe. I understand why they do it but I agree it looses all the fun and tactility.

Agree with the XY GS, I was hanging out for this one but the detail is so wrong I gave it a miss.

Haven't picked up my order yet for the same reason, unsure if I want resin.
I picked up a Diecast, black tooheys 1000 VN grp A in December and the detail in that one is fantastic.
Resin/sealed is a letdown in comparison.

Burgundy and Blue are coming so I've heard. I have the green one on my desk at work and love it, the detail is awesome. And seriously if you worry about whether the doors open etc you probably need to find something else to do.

If anybody has bought one of these and doesnt want it let me know, I'll buy one to put in the shed next to the real car.

Burgundy and Blue are in the pipeline.

when I spoke to the Biante guys at the model expo last year, he said the reason they done resin is because of 2 things.
1, tooling, one off cars like the GT, would have no common parts for other cars, and to do die cast would cost more than double to do.
2, Resin they could get far better detail. The car was 3D scanned and final result is as below.

The detail is great and Biante have done a great job on it. 550 made.
I'd rather have a resin $200 model that (lets face it sits in a cupboard on display) than no model at all.

Other manufacturers use Resin and Diecast, Both are great! Resin will only get better.
Colour is pretty bloody good.

Looks great, thanks for the pics.

Now I'm really frothing that other E Series will come out. When the EB race cars were announced, the first thing I thought was "Sprint Sprint Sprint Sprint Sprint!"

Am I the only one who finds the 1:18 road cars far more relevant than the race cars?

Very impressive detail on that model. It looks great

Yeah you can open the bonnet on some metal ones but I'd rather forego the opening bonnet on an XA GT coupe if the detail wad as good as this. The grrill and 12 slots on the XA XB look embarrassingly crap....even the XY grill is proportionally crap.

At least the first EL looks right.
