Default 470 klm/h standing mile record.

https://youtu.be/DnCsQPpY6xA

Pretty bloody impressive for me how stable it is at near 500 klm/h. Still one of the best looking cars IMO.

They keep bunny-hopping each other as the main guys keep competing for the top number.
Some very quick cars out there ... even the 1/2 mile contest is hotly contested as well.
lots of $$$$$ and workshop backing for the top dogs there.

The 1/2mile cars are in the 2500rwhp vicinity ... massive TT setups

Sounds awesome idling, let alone once it gets moving!

It was so high geared to get that kind of speed, did you notice how slow the initial movement was getting it off the line.

Would be interesting to see the gearing they used.
Like with the Saltpan cars ... they usually get a rolling push from another vehicle.

Still got a bit to go...outright record for a piston engined /wheel driven car is a smidge over 700km/h...but that's with a streamliner.

The 2017 GT would be interesting to see attack the mile record, as its much more advanced in the aero department.

It's no production vehicle though.
Some of these cars that run these are street registered as well.

Dunno, at a certain point, speed becomes so imperceptible that the excitement wears off, like riding a jet at 1000mph

I saw another one of these standing mile runs with another Ford GT that did 250MPH from a 1200HP TT motor. It was getting wheel spin in all gears except 6th in the upper rev range when the power kicked in

G'day...What am I missing here...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asCU6z6XhNY.... Then this.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3CWs1gC74c ..Under 10 seconds too in a dear old 4 litre modded Aussie turbo..Ford GT Supercharged and turbo'd and the Supercharged V10 Viper virtually matched by a down under road driven Falcon...Go figure...
The Ford GT with the huge speed though is pretty impressive...
Too bad the new one ain't coming here...Would be great to see..Cheers

Those are setup for 1/4 times ... not 1-mile standing start (ie: slow take-off long gearing events).

If you want to see quick 1/4 times .... the GT-R guys in the US are into the 6-sec 1/4 times now. For something that is still relatively factory chassis as well.

Different setup for different events.
