planning a road trip with my Learner daughter from Vic into NSW. Can someone please confirm that the Vic permit conditions stay with her? ie that she can drive at the posted limit on the freeway, not the NSW restricted speeds? that's hot to interpret this statement, right?

You sure?
In SA you dont need to carry your licence on you whilst driving, in NSW you do. I got pinged for it in NSW and when I explained the difference in rules I got told when Im in NSW, NSW rules apply. |

I think that's the case generally, but the web site mentions speed specifically as I quoted above, which is why I wanted to check. I think a phone call may be in order

If you don't carry your (interstate) license with you how do they know that you actually have a license................. not to mention if you crash there's no ID so where do they send the body?

Re the NSW rules for visiting L platers :
When driving in NSW, you must stay below the speed limit shown on road signs and the speed limit that applies to your licence at home. Thats all you need to know I suspect. By the way I hardly have my wallet/license with me in the car nowadays, on the mobile.

Then VicRoads took it off me, so now the only form of ID I have is my expired passport ALWAYS have ID on you, unless you're going out to purposely do something wrong then leave it and your phone(s) at home |

This is ACT/NSW but you get the idea. url]https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/6024181/one-state-but-two-different-sets-of-rules-for-p-platers-from-act-and-nsw/[/url] In both NSW and the ACT, ACT P-platers can go the posted speed limit even up to 110km/h can have a carload of their friends under age 21 at anytime can drive a high-powered car can tow a trailer weighing less than 750kg can use a hands-free mobile phone will not necessarily lose their licence if caught speeding Whereas NSW P-platers in NSW cannot exceed 90km/h on their red Ps and 100km/h on their green Ps cannot drive a high powered car cannot carry more than one under-21-year-old friend between 11pm and 5am cannot tow trailers weighing more than 250kg cannot use a mobile phone at all unless parked will automatically lose their licence for speeding (if caught once on red Ps and twice on green Ps)

Lets say that you're involved in an accident that's not your fault and the other driver involved is in car belonging to someone else. They can't give you their details as they don't have their license with them. Would you take their word when they give you their name and address and that they really do have a current license and will show to a Police station later. Which Police station and how would you explain it to your insurance company

I agree with Trevor 57 comment, we talking about a learners permit not a licence holder. |

I was simply highlighting that what applies in one state can differ from another which is what the question asked eluded to. |

To the OP, if you want legal advice either ring the police as suggested or call a solicitor/lawyer/barrister that specialises in traffic law.
The thread is now closed. I don't want some learner or P plater to read this and think that they are OK when they possibly will not be. |
