If your car wasn't there, and you can prove it, good luck! But how did they get your rego number?

EDIT
they probably posted the fine, because you were about to get into the car, and they didn't want a confrontation.

I'm not too sure it'll be that easy to get out of.

I can see your wallet probably copping it.

Do you have witnesses to say you were not there/your car was not there...were you driving your car on the day in question.

Unless you can prove you or your car were not there...you pay up and shut up!!!!

I'll give some advice....

write in stating to the best of your recollection you or your vehicle was not parked illegally on the date and time stated, at the location they state. Ask them for a description of your vehicle (or leave this part for court).

Problem is, if they have the correct description and you can't conclusively prove your vehicle was not where they state it was, you will lose...

Oh come on, how are you going to prove that you were or were not parked there at any one time?

Whats the fine? Fifty bucks? Sheesh.

To some people, it is. $105 can be hefty on some people's wallets, especially going towards something like a parking ticket...

Fight it. Send them a letter asking for copies of the records etc. I got 2 of them mailed to me.. I denied both (no evidence) and told them I'll see them in court. Its now 18 months on and I've heard nothing. Even if it goes to court it will be thrown out because its over 1 year.

Screw em, revenue by post it just over the top.

Hey, $105 out of my pocket is substantial. If your not guilty why pay it ?? It just has to be proved.

If you got the ticket and you knew you were somewhere else, would you pay ?

Same thing happened to a mate It arrived in the mail. Only problem is that his car was at home, about 250 k's from where the ticket was issued. We think the parking inspector got the rego wrong on the car they booked by maybe 1 digit because the car was the same car as his. I assume car yads regster several new cars at the same time so they would have consecutive numbers.

We were with him at his house on the day the ticket was issued. One of the guys there wrote him a letter which he sent to the RTA.

Leave him alone ya big meanies! Fight it, if you can prove that you weren't there. Mistakes happen.

Also, $105 is alot to ALOT of people. Take off the rose coloured glasses and realise that there are others much worse off than you. If $105 is nothing to you, then give it to a charity like "Save the GRNKPR" or even better, Lisa's house rebuilding scheme - and stop bragging about how much money you earn. :

Sorry, got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning...

All he really needs to do is prove he was somewhere else at that exact time. If they didn't issue a ticket while the car was parked there (presuming it was), and he can show he was not even there at that time, then he should be right.

He doesnt even need to do that. All he needs to do is create doubt of any kind.
First step is to write a letter to them contesting it and asking to see evidence of the incident. They wont have any of course. Then ask for the documentation... they wont give it to you. Finally, tell them you will see them in court. Keep the letters and the responses. Doubt has been created.

Very same thing happened to me, got a parking ticket in the mail from the Bundaberg City Council.

Checked dates and times, and I was nowhere near Bundaberg. Wrote them a letter to state as much ( I didn't have any proof as such ) just said I wasn't there and that was the last I heard about it.

Jesus did I cop a grilling from the missus though!!! :

In Qld nowdays most traffic infringments are done remotely.. It saves a confrontaton, saves you saying there was nothing on the windscreen and you didn't receive notification, they can also sit or stand somewhere nearby out of eye sight and book alot more cars..

I havent had a ticket stuck on the windscreen for months and months, they all come thru the mail these days...

A little bit of info that would have been handy phil :
As others say, write a letter. If you have some way of proving you weren't there.. start the ball rolling in case they want to go ahead with it.
There a quite a few reason as to why they didn't put it on the car ... other than it wasn't there.

If you can prove that you were not there, via reciepts from fuel dockets or whatever, then fight it.

They do not always put them on windscreens due to loss, people saying it wasn't there, etc.

good luck...

Are you really sure your car wasn't in a no-standing zone though? Its possibly to park somewhere and miss a sign or not realise you're in the wrong place. If you were in that city that day it seems a bit of a coincidence (I presume you don't live there)? Sure if you weren't there then don't pay it but if there was any doubt it my mind that I might be guilty then I'd pay it.
