If you run serpentine you will have to get thermofans and an EF radiator with the smaller water pump outlet. You can run the ED manifold but it means using an XH tensioner/belt, and is a real pain as far as A/C goes. :( I'm sure it will be worth it in the end.

You can put the engine in for now, and switch to bbm - serpentine setup later on if you want, but do the thermos mod definately, its well worth it. I have an EL XR6 engine in my ED, with thermos (aftermarket wiring kit), ED XR6 manual ECU, XR6 fuel pressure regulator, bbm and still running the 3 belt setup. Idles and runs sweet as. -Sam |

You will have to change the timing cover to the ED one.

yes, you can use your existing manifold no probs... you wont have to worry about running an el xr computer...
might be a good idea at the time to install thermofans and keep the serpentine setup... you could keep your existing radiator and get a stainless steel reducing pipe made for the bottom hose as the ed hose is larger then the el hose... i had a reducer made for when i put in an AU motor in my ED..

so i can run the whole EL engine with all the EL bits ,alt, waterpump, serpentine belt setup, inletmanifold EL or ED ?? and thermo's.so it will run the serpentine setup and use a EL A/C compressor ?
and is it when you run the clutch fan with the EL engine that you run into problems with things not fitting ??? sorry just trying to get my head around all of this

if you use the EL belt setup, you can still use your ED manifold.
my suggestion is to, get an EL motor with all the accessories (Alt, A/C, P/S)... get some EL thermofans and fit them at the same time... OR, you could get an AU motor!!!....
