I did my conversion 2 1/2 years ago.
Despite making me broke many times, I don't think I'd change what I've done to my ED. Many of us get the urge to sell our 'money pits' but in the end, its all harmless fun. What else would we have spent our money on? So yeh, I'd like to see conversions........ past and present, as well as conversions under way. Bring em on!!

The rings went and that AU came up for sale at the same time. I took the easy option. The AU was awesome.
White EB 2 gli - BA XR6 turbo, wolf 3d. 550cc injectors, cooler, 3 inch exhaust, stock fuel pump, stock motor, stock auto trans, 14 inch wheels and hubcaps on superlows. 202rwkw and 13.7ish at 105mph. Possibly looking at building another one soon. Ive got a guy interested in the torana and I want a car that already drives and is registered to work with.

I might buy myself a cam, 3.9 diff gears, a 5 speed conversion, 3 more PSI and a retune for christmas. I doubt it though... the keyword in your first post was "moneypit" Mick.

I turboed my EL about 4 years ago.
Should have done everything from the ground up to begin with but like all of us had a limited budget. I am proud of the fact it is a daily driver and has now done 80,000km with the turbo set-up on, not many 400rwkw + cars can say that. But overall I think it has cost a lot of money and although I don’t regret it I would not do it again.

Here i was thinking my mechanical gremlins were ironed out....
Just got back from a short drive after doing the head gasket and i find enough shaft play to hav the front wheel touch the turbo compressor housing... I spent $1130.00 having that turbo rebuilt from scratch and havent had 9 months out of it. I hope that the manager at Eastern Turbos remembers offering a 12 month warranty on it!!!

When the guy was building it, i said i was running just over 10psi, with that he said that was very low and that he'd give a 12 month warranty on parts and labour.
Such a pain in the to get that turbo manifold off!!!
here are a few pic of my set up! please comment evan criticises is constructive.
i am going to do my best to comment/criticise this car. ............................... see, i have nothing. its hot, and i love it!!! I have done so many things that i said i would wish, or never do... first, manual conversion, then Rollin and i dreamed about an AU conversion, and its been done. ED Sprint interior, EF Door trims (bit of a *****)... plus the fact that my car is a bastard to work on, it take 8 times longer to do things than any other car. It tries to stop the mods, but Rollin Performace (r) (c) is determined to get it working it will most likely have a turbo on it one day

I bought all the turbo bits n pieces 1 years ago but had to postpone it all when i started my business.
I ended up buying a few cars n bikes in the meantime to keep me happy so ive given it all to oneredED to put on his car for the time being. |

Well the turbo and manifold are sittin in the garage ready for the trip up to Bayswater tommorow.
I can't see how the thrust bearing could hav shat itself so early on in its life. I've been doing oil changes every 5-6000 kms and run nulon coolant. anyone else had early bearing issues with bush turbos?

Did you end up getting a Blow off valve put in?
Are you getting it rebuilt at the joint next to KB engine parts? He charged me a shed load to rebuild my 3540 on the AU. I may as well have bought a new turbo.

I have a motor im currently rebuilding, (new rings bearings standard pistons, prepped rods maybe shot peined all balnced up) that my turbo setup is going to look very pretty on. Money is a bit tight at the moment so hopefully tax time will pay for all the little things i need that just keep adding up.

Well i was influenced / brainwashed hehe however u see it, by mikey (evlelf) were close mates so spending that much time with him n the car had to end up havin some effect on me haha it did! Mine is currently in the process atm Hopefully should be ready in a month maybe 2 just depending on what bills and wat not bit me in the in the process which will slow the project lol..
so far - garrett t04e - 600x300x76 intercooler - k&n pod filter - walbro performance fuel pump - power up boost controller - heat warp and bits n pieces Hopefully rising rate reg next week and oil lines. Me and a mate are putting together a custom manifold which we expect will be done in 2-3weeks. Then once i got all bits together will take a weekend aside to put it all on and take the falcon to the exhaust shop for piping (would u guys recomend 3 or 2 1/2 inch for cooler piping??) and exhaust which i planned to be a 3 inch dump pipe, hi flow cat then 2 1/2 inch pipe with a hotdog.. No pics as of yet cause no work has began lol if any one has any info or advice they wish to give me for any reason feel free! Hopefully ill be postin more about it soon! rukidn
