i finaly got round to fitting a 300 kpa xr6 fuel reg to my au i6 yesterday.it has made a noticeable improvement.idle is still the same ,throttle response is a lot better and going by the bumometer it has a bit more poke up top 4000 rpm +.its to early to compare the econemy yet.the best thing is ,that it hasn't pinged yet ,as most of you know i've been struggling to try and stop this.so far so good.i didn't reset the ecu after fitting it ,so i don't know if the ecu will learn whats goin on and trim the injectors back a bit.but for now its goin ral well :eclipsee_ .when i get a chance i'l see if i can get it back on rdp's dyno to see if it has made much difference.
for those thats interested ,i used a ef fuel rail (got this for free)and bought a brand new reg which cost $90 and some fuel line fittings for $25 and some new rubber o rings for the injectors which i had lying around. for anyone making around the +140rwk mark i reckon its a worthwhile mod.unless of course you have an xr6. catch yas ,jake |

How come you needed a new fuel rail? Can't you just add it onto your existing AU Fuel rail?

Xr6 au fuel rail is different to the standard au fuel rail.So is the regulator. There is only one regulator which goes into the standard rail...the standard regulator.
Jake dont be fooled by seat of the pants, the times will show the differences.Hopefully for the better.

Sounds good....especially glad the pinging has stopped.
It really shouldn't affect economy too much at all. Cruise and idle fueling will be apropriatly adjusted (reduced) based on the O2 sensor feedback.

Maybe your original reg was bad?
By that I mean, the improvement you are getting is not a result of the increased rail pressure so much as there is now consistent rail pressure... A bad reg may have been dropping rail pressure, and therefore running lean, causing your pinging? Anyway, good result all the same. How soon can you get it back to the track...? Would be good to see you ET (and mph) back down near your PB again ;)

well i had it back up at rdp's today for a dyno run and it averaged 201.4 rwhp.well its still making some decent power (down a whole 3 rwhp),BUT..... ive done a rear seal and its leaving little puddles of oil exerywhere.the down side to this is i won't be able to give it a run at willow bank , and man do i love getting out there.
