Default rda slotted rotors - North Western Melbourne

Hi all,

Wanting to check out some good prices for rda slotteds.

Where is a good place to get them in North Western Melbourne.

I need 2 for the rear of the AU1 wagon and want 4 for the S2 SR.

I can hear the crowd scalding me for not going with dba, however they are dba's on the front of the wagon now, and performance isn't that much better than before. Also, the fronts appear to need machining already, it's not been that long since I fitted them! I'm getting that done for $66 on Monday.

I thought I'd check with you all for an idea of where to get them. I know where I can get cheap dba stuff, but I want to compare prices with the rda stuff.

Brakes plus want $100 each and all up would be $278 fitted.

I'll fit them myself and have been told that rda are heaps cheaper than $100 each.

Your ideas please!

Cheers all,

GK

I know Im not in Melbourne, but I got a set of RDA's fitted the other day and they cost 560 all up for the rotors. Definitely a lot better than the stocko's and in my opinion a lot better than the DBA's on my mates EF.

Sorry I can't recomend an area around the western suburbs , allthough i'll add my 2 cents and vouch for rda's, there is absolutelly nothing wrong with them at all .... besides, anything is better than the stock falcon brakes , and hey really when you even compare the old stockies to most cars they aren't that bad either ! / the old stockies may warp easily a bit but they still stop you no worries .

Cheers.

That's the ones I got as well, but AU2 rear equivalent.

GK ended up getting his for $80 a side, from AutoOne. Great price, and they're going to look after him when he gets all 4 plus pads for the SR.

That is a good price. Was that trade or regular retail? I think the ones I got were selling for $169 front without pads but add $20 postage to that.

As far as I know that was normal retail. The prices on ebay are still good for those that don't/can't get out much (like me).

Yep, normal retail. Brakes Plus wanted $100 each disc, plus $78 to fit them. Did it myself in an hour. Glad I went to AutoOne.

They are standard slotteds though, not the fancy race ones.

I should have taken a few pics for a "how to" but the misses was busy and my hands were grubby so I couldn't use the digital camera.

When I do the rears on the SR perhaps.

I am disappointed in you GK !!!!! I look forward to your how to's, a lot better than trying to figure it out from the Haynes manual.

Ok!

In a few days time when I do the SR (x4 discs and pads), I'll do a "how to" for the rears!

Cheers,

brake rotors and pads are EASY to change did them today on my lane

i got DBA 4000 series front rotors for $112 each (i get 25% off as i work at supercheap) (they have extra slits on the outter edge of the disc and have heat markings and stuff..*shrugs*) all of supercheaps suppliers didnt have any of the standard slotteds available and i needed new rotors asap as i needed new pads so figured new pads on old rotors = bad

i got bendix advance pads for $45

Interesting theory. New pads an old rotors are OK, as long as the rotors aren't warped or under sized. If they are warped and still above min thickness, get them machined. But at the prices you got the DBA4000s, I can see why you would just buy them - braking performance will be heaps better.

The RDAs are still cheaper, and will do the same job on the street.
