Ride height

If I put a set of 18 inch rims on my XR6 that has the standard 16 inch rims will it look like a tractor?
I ask because I wont be able to afford superlows for a few months.
It should sit the same height shouldn't it if the overall diameter of the wheel\tyre is the same?

youll find that the tires wont squash down the same amount, so it will sit a little higher. nothing unbearable though.

mate i reckon your better of just waiting for the super lows for the next few months and put the rims on with the super lows all at once, you also have the advantage that both the superlows and the 18" rims you want price will drop a little aswell

I put 17's on my Ghia and it now sits 21mm lower than the standard 16's (ie the 17's are 21mm smaller in diameter than the 16's)

edit: actually, the car sits 10.5mm lower

it all comes down to tire and rim combo..

look in my thread in the workshop section
rolling on 20s at stock height.. and had 18s for a while there too..

now its on superlows

and looks pimp

Blackers is right , the car should sit around the same height with the correct legal rim & tyre combo.

The bigger the Rim , the lower the profile tyre, to keep the rolling distance the same on the wheel as specified. Tyres with the same rolling distance roughly are gonna be the same height no matter what profile the tyre is.
(bigger the rim , lower the profile tyre... etc) .
