Hi guys, does anybody have a pic off the Herrod bi plane rear spolier to suit an AUII XR8, I'm looking at buying one, but I'm not sure whether I like them or not anymore, I did when I 1'st seen them but now I think they make the rear end to big/fat or busy if you know what I mean????.

That's the one Austin.
To me, I wouldn't fit one, but having said that, the height of the rear wing is about the same as the height of the front of the boot, so it does add a nice extension in that regard. With yours I think it would complement if it were the same colour as Adam's with the blue-black (or I think more correctly carbon fibre pattern), rather than all out Galaxy.

Yeah thats the one, thanks mate, do you know if it has a Herrod symbol or marking under the top wing, I'm very undecided on whether to get one or not.

Off the top of my head, no.
Try getting in touch with either Strider or JAJH if you can't get in touch with Robbie.

The one I saw last had the Herrod Symbol on the underside of the wing.

They have the herrod logo stamped/moulded on the bottom. Youve got to drill into your original spoiler to fit them! :

I got the Herrod bi plane for my XR8 when Falkeen first started AWC...to use as the mould.
I loved it on my XR and never drilled anything to fix it on the original XR wing. Adam used double sided tape and sikaflex..... Never came off at 180k's ROFL..

Id be alittle hesitant to use just sikaflex lol
My dad in law went on and on about how sikaflex holds plane windscreens in, yet a week after putting my bodykit on the EF, the top of one sideskirt popped off. Hope Qantas uses higher grade flex or something... |

Would $200-$250 seem allright for one off these wings, there is a bloke selling one allready attached to a rear spoiler, so I get the original rear spoiler and then the bi-plane Herrod wing attached to the top, but it is in red so I will have to paint it.

Yes I've noticed downforce on mine (tickford unpainted model)
I read in I think wheels mag in 98 that they will create DF whereas single spoiler just reduces lift by 60% That herrod model doesn't look too bad but I think painting it galaxy may give a better look. Is the herrod one black or brown. I can't tell from that pic. There were a few AU1 XR's at phillip island the other weekend and boy the one with the bi plane sure looked really faded. I've definately burnished all the gold flakes off of mine.

I have doubts that either the single spoiler or the bi-wing spoiler will create EFFECTIVE downforce.
By that I mean that air pressure will certainly be pushing the spoiler into the ground, but if the spoiler is only attached to the boot lid, then any downforce created will be negated by the boot lid flexing. The way to compensate for this is to mount the spoiler directly to the chassis. That being said, I have the tickford bi-plane spoiler attached to the boot lid of my ghia coz I think it looks tough...
