Default up to 1 1/2 yrs?

he there. iv got my eye on a EA S pac in very nice condition with only 140,000 k's on it. but it has been sitting in a car yard now for 1 1/2 years. im not sure if its been taken out for a drive, but im guessing they might have run the engine a couple of timses (i hope). what would you guys expect from it, would it need some attention under the bonnet or not. obviously it would be a good idea to check the oil and stuff though. and last of all would you expect the car to run as usual once its given a bit of run? its a wonder it didnt sell, best EA you could find.

You'll have a flat battery most likely, perhaps some trouble turning it over. But once its all good and running, a service would be a good idea.

I used to detail cars at a dealership. They tried to keep every car turning over but the mostly just sat there. Just look for anything that can happen to a car that has sat outside for 1 1/2 years and only drove about 30kms in that time. Check tyers, cause any flats were left like that until the car had to be moved

Pull the rocker cover off and check how much rust there is on the top end, doesnt take long for it to start to appear once the oil drains away. If it looks ok, it cover it with fresh oil, squirt some into the spark plug holes, and turn the motor over by hand for a little while.

take the belts off and turn every pully buy hand to make sure nothing has siezed. check the rocker gear for rust as said above and make sure everything looks secure and nice. if it has a new battery and it still doesnt crank then try hit the starter a few times with a hammer as they can sieze over time

organise a dealer warranty first. Fire her up as normal lol

nah, best thing to do it whip the rocker cover off like above, bit of oil in the plug holes and crank her over by hand. Some new fuel in the tank, an oil change for motor and box, check brakes, battery, air in tyres, change coolant.

you want to make sure that the petrol has not gone stale. im not sure how you could do that although it causes major problems if it is no good- new petol tank, lines pump, ect.

check motor as previously stated. you could also disconnect the injectors and with a decent battery crank the motor for a minute to build oil pressure before actually starting...

would the fuel be off???

It's an EA.....just chuck a battery in and start it! Then marvel at the sweet, sweet sound of ticking rocker gear for the next 10 minutes.

I'd expect a lot of sediment to have settled after that period of time.

i know i disconnected the injectors on my au motor when it had been sitting for awhile before starting. i even do it if my car has been sitting for a few weeks without starting.
