Default Anyone in Advertising/Marketing? (i need help)

hey,
i need help with an assignment ive been asked to do.
the assignment involves me creating an advertising campaign for a fake Music festival (kind of like a big day out style event).

im having trouble finding out things such as printing costs for posters/flyers/tickets etc and all the other media that i need.

also things such as advertising in magaines etc

and how much money would generally be spent on a advertising campaign like this.

so my question is does anyone know any good places or websites that would be good to find out the costs involved and any other releevant information?

if anyones had any experience in this sort of thing, any help would be much appreciated

cheers
pete

Pete, there is a company in Sydney not sure of the name Mediaplus ? i am sure if you done a few phone calls you will find them, they are a one stop advertising company and cover all aspects of advertising, and will set up a complete package of all media requirements needed, I am sure if you called them they would be able to help out, another good call is your local messenger type paper, these guys can usually put a package together and point you in direction of the other media outlets needed.

i did a marketing unit at Uni...

anyway, a lot of music festivals are advertised in "The Drum Media"

its a free music publication available in the sydney metro area. they have pricing on their website which a quick google will find. so there is a start.

Pete, its a bit like saying how long is a piece of string. Costs can vary enormously depending on:

* Where is the event being held?
* Are you wanting to target just the people in that town or across the state or the country?
* Do you have a preference for TV, radio, press, airship lol?
* Do you have a rough budget in mind? Often, media organisations will want to know this first as its easier for them to work out a campaign based on your budget rather than come up with a campaign the price of which causes you to have a heart attack.

Feel free to give me a yell with any questions - glad to help out.

Richard

thanks for the advice.

well the event is going to be nationwide (sydney, melbourne, brisbane, perth)
so i intend to aim it at a nationwide audience
the media i intend to use are mainly print (flyers, tickets, magazine adverts, bus stops billboards) also some merchandise (t-shirts, caps and cd's) and a website.

as for budget i really have no idea.
ive noticed magazine/newspaper advertising is very costly. so im thinking it would be a pretty large budget, but i have no clue what a large budget would be ??

i wanted the campaign to go for around 1 month prior to the kick off of the event and also the month during the event. so a two month period.
does that sound about right or would an advertising company do it differently?

any suggestions on what magazines/newspapers would be suitable to advertise in?

also how is distribution worked out, for things such as flyers and merchandise?

any help is much appreciated ;)

LOL gotta love the last minute rush!

I'll do some stuff this evening. Mind you, it might be a bit random as I'll just throw down some ideas as they come to mind.
