Default UK DVD's played in Oz?

Just a quick question...Do DVD's from the UK play on Australian DVD Players. I'd love to order some DVD's and thought I would check before going through with it. The website for the DVD's says they're "PAL-Only" so I'm guessing they are compatable in Oz?

Dude, they are PAL like Australia, but i think the UK are region 2, not region 4 like us.
But most DVD players dont have region coding on them here anyway.

I'd make sure that the DVD player is region free first.

I've got a Denon DVD player (DVD-800)...its a region 4 player (der!) and says in the manual that it only plays discs that have the same region no. on the back of the player (4) or if the disc is marked 'ALL'.

Are most manufacturers very strict with there region coding (or is it there just to make you buy their high-spec model that has multi-region enabled)???

I just don't want to spend AU$75 on DVD's and not be able to play them...

I have looked everywhere on Google but cant find a code for yours.
I found this review

http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Hardwar.../Denon800.html

he mentions it plays all regions even though it specifies region 4. Most cheapies do play all regions nowadays as people have said.

As I said in the post above yours, I searched for AGES for a code for that model....came up with nothing...this usually means it will be region free anyway...

If its not, sell the UK DVDs on eBay! ;)

All Panasonic DVD players are region free, so if it is quality you are after thats the main choice.

See if there's a firmware update for the Denon that can make it multi region - whether it be factory or a modified firmware. Google would be a good place to start

I wish that was my mini in my avatar...although when I'm finished with mine, it will be HEAPS better than that one (VTEC power anyone? _2: , look at the link in my sig., I'm sure you'll like what you see!)

According to videohelp.com, there are no hacks for my player...my player was no cheapie either (I paid $399, but it was marked down from $699)

I'm not sure what to do. I have looked heaps on google and haven't found that much.

I actually read the same review. It says that the player is region 2 enabled but is changed to region 4 when it comes to Oz. The reviewer says that he could play a region 1 DVD on it though (although thats no good to me!).

Thanks for searching for me though Scotsman! (I'd have to agree with his review, it does have good picture quality : )

The only reason I want to buy DVDs from the UK is because they're Mini (the car) DVD's :P I'm not sure if these DVD's would be available in Asia.
