anyone know how or where to get accomodation in lorne for schoolies?
you wouldnt believe the hassles and fuss it is to get a place... there is one place that will do it but have rediculous expectations and rules..

We stayed at a camping ground a few years back when i left school mate. Great time, the whole place was full of schoolies and everyone just sparked up bbq's and got out the beers and mingled. There wasnt any real trouble between groups and we all picked up so definately not a week to be sneezed at ;)

Lorne isn't one of the best places to go for schoolies, the locals know and usually refuse to rent anything out. I know my dad wont rent his place out. You're probably better off trying one of the camping grounds, see if you can hire a couple of vans or take tents. The first camp site as you come into Lorne has great unit/van thingies, you can sleep up to 8 people in them. If your going to be drinking though, it's probably safer that you don't get the ones next to the waters edge. :
If your intending to eat up there you had better take plenty of cash with you, the pub just put counter meals up to $35- each!!! The fish and chip shop isn't that cheap either, although they have HUGE burgers and nice fresh calamari. ;) You could always take a fishing rod, some nice big fish to be caught off the pier. :hihi:

Ha, I can Imagine you trying to fish when youre drinking like one Santz.
We had schoolies in Lorne, the boys and I and had a great time. Cant remember how we did it though, One of me greek mates organised the house with his parents, and the landlord respected that, and trusted us and all was sweet.... |

Hmmm you might have left the run a bit late for a house. I know when we tried to book a house for schoolies (back in 2003, seems so long ago now...) we did it in February and everywhere was booked already and anywhere that wasnt wouldnt rent it out to schoolies anyway.
We ended up staying at the caravan park/camping place near the jetty, best choice we made. You have 3-4 levels of drunk schoolies all in one place was great fun we just stayed there (in the park) pretty much every night, it went off. Basically its like one massive party there each day cauz theres about 100-200 shcoolies all staying there having a good time and no noise restrictions etc also no dickheads looking fo fights like there is down at the foreshore everyone got on well. By midnight the toilet block usually turns into unisex toilets/showers lol and the like, ah the memories..... Edit: on a sidenote do not take a nice car down there for three reasons. 1. You will most likely be too drunk to drive 99% of the time anyway 2. All the shops, pubs, beach etc are easily walkible too. 3. It will most likely get dinged/scratched covered in sh!t at night Of course the exception to this rule is if you take your car and park it in the foreshore carpark each day and sit around it ALL day going "eh uleh check me out, my car is fulla sik, lets start some punch ons bro" Last edited by FRDXR6; 08-05-2005 at 04:33 PM. |

na i'm very very damn hesitant to take my car up ther.. looks like the vk is going on a trip
the only way i will take my car is if there is a garage at the accomodation that i can park it in for a week... doubt it though... found a place on the main drag.. they want 1500 deposit.. damn on drugs.. apart from that its pretty sweet cheers
