You should be fine as long as the bottle isnt in there.

The epa test will just be for noise and to check that all the polution control gear is there.

Take out the NOS lines and put your stock air box and polution stuff back in. How loud is your exhaust?

from the little i know of it, you are allowed to have the system installed in the car, but not have the bottle in and not have the lines connected to the engine side of the car....(unscrew the hose from each end and plug them .. )

hope you dont get dicked about.....

no pods it must run orig airbox (I have the sheet infront of me) ,as for the nos my understanding is removing bottle and solenoids is all that is required ,As all it is then is a empty braided line and a few fittings they cannot deem you unroadworthy/epa illegal for that unless the arent secured.

according to the fast 4's modification guide, it's illegal to have NOS fitted to a registered car in WA and QLD. In VIC and the other states it's ok as long as the supply lines are disconnected from the bottle.

tell em to stick the EPA up their ***.

No Bottle

No connections to engine.

Do yourself a favour and remove the complete kit from the car.

Expect a $10k fine for detection of Nos kit with bottle attached

Why don't you PM Laminge. He seems to have had some "discussions" with the efficient public servants who infect the EPA.

hus told me that the coppa said NOS is dangerous cause it's flammable hahaha.

Just on the topic of defects, has anyone read the latest Street Commodores magazine where they have stories from the Summernats? One lady in a stocko Clubsport got defected cause she didn't have the RTA imprint on her rego label and they were gonna make her tow it home. And another guy got done for not having water in his washer bottle....apparantly in the interest of public safety lol!

NOS is a big no no on street driven cars. remove it and put the stock airbox back and you should be right.
you can always put them back later.

No water isnt the worst thing, if they really want to get pedantic they could get you for having your seat belt twisted. Yes that is an actual law, never heard of anyone getting done for it though. From what i know about NOS is that its illegal to even have the connections in the car

If the exhaust is 2 5" with extractors it will be too loud. You can get it under the limit with a rear muffler as well as the the centre muffler.

Hey on the topic of regulations- my 2.5" exhaust goes straight from the extractors to a muffler at the back. Is this illegal, or running some sortof cat-zorst? :P

I have a few mates with street registered vehicles and NOS setups. I have heard that if there is no bottle and you can clearly tell that it is not hooked up, they cannot pick on you. You can have the provisions there but not hooked up on the road.
This is what I have heard from their personal encounters with cops.

Double check this with some drag racing association or mobs that sell NOS kits to make sure.

The problem with this is that if its connected to the engine the lines in the boot may be fake lines, and that the actual N2O lines are hidden and a secret bottle is in the car somewhere. Thats why they want it disonceted from the engine as well.

In sydney your allowed to have the nitrous lines in but the injectors must be blanks and your not allowed to have the bottle hooked up to the feed line.

You've got to be kidding, 20grand for no cat? That is amazing anyone know of someone copping fine like that? I thought $198 for 10kms above the legal limit was rough!

The cop is calling your bluff. Having a nitrous setup with no bottle connected is not illigal. As far as i'm aware its also perfectly legal to have the bottle sitting in the car and even in the mounts, just not connected. I mean, how else are you going to get the bottle from a to b?

Typical example of Victorians being guilty until proven innocent if you ask me.

...which is why I'm suprised it didn't have one. Is it even legal to sell an exhaust without a cat? Isn't the o2 sensor supposed to be in the cat somewhere?
As for my original question- how difficult/pricey is it to put one on?

As for the 96dB rule, I'll get my ol' man's multimeter and measure it (from the point of `exhaust', I assume)

I believe the legal limit is actually 90dB, so make sure you keep it at about 88 tops to be safe. The test it at around 4000rpm and you also need to keep an eye on the 'lift off' too. A lot of rice burners run close to 90dB at 4000rpm but then blow 100dB on lift off, that's where they'll get you if you fail the attitude test.

_2:

As for silly laws, you can be given a penalty notice if you leave you car unlock or with the handbrake off or even windows open if you are on a public highway. For the record a public highway includes grass verges and footpaths.......

That suck Hus!

You still going to be coming to the cruise?

Take it down to EPA with 14s, 3 hubcaps (pretend one got lost) and amber indicators. Put standard exhaust back on, and they'll think someones takin' the mickey out of them lol.
