Dead 6 stacker in AU2 Fairmont

Hi Fadi,
The 6 stacker in my dad's Fairmont wagon has died, the red 'LOAD' light stays on all the time when u select the CD function, it loads/accepts CD's but will not play or eject them. Last time it happened the local Ford service guys removed the CD's for him but they said the unit is stuffed and needs to be replaced. Quoted about $300 to replace with new unit, is this about right or is there anyother way to rectify the problem? Is it cheaper to get a new unit or repair it? What would you charge and/or advise? I am just north of Melbourne.

the units we supply are reconditioned, no new units available anymore, we do provide 6 months warranty. When the red button is on that means you need a changeover unit where the cd mechanism is at fault. however you can try disconnecting the power on and off the radio it might fix your problem for a while, but the fault will reoccur.
