They don't even get a slap on the wrist here. Apparently over the last few weeks quite a few public parks and assetts have been destroyed by gangs of teenagers that roam around all hours harrassing everyone. The local butcher who had a go at them for climbing on a shade sail out the front of his shop was attacked by the group of younguns, and females are constantly harrassed and robbed at night while visiting the local shops or closing up at the end of the night.

The local Councillor has called a meeting to try and seek expressions of interest as calls to the police, well I quote "when police respond to calls they are 'hamstrung' by the Young offenders Act and the youth know the limits of police powers"

My View is its all the parents fault, mine knew where I was!! I'm sure 95% of the local offenders here have parents that just don't care what their kids are up to, otherwise they would be at home!!

For anyone interested, I live in Medowie, 30 min north of Newcastle

The ironic thing is cops are no where to be seen when they really need to be there

My mate got handcuffed and locked up for the night for doing nothing more than picking up a broken tree branch......

Valley cops are a law within the law...You speak your mind and your threatened ....We tried to defend our mate and we got verbally abused and threatened with the lock up also

Some ******** just had another go at removing the side indicators on my mum's VT.

What next the Ecotec V6 badges? I'll remove their fingers if I catch them.

What are 13 to 17 year olds kids doing wandering the neighbourhoods from 8.30 pm to 3.00am? Yeh, I don't know either, and i bet their parents don't! IMO, the problems with todays youth stems from the need these days to have both parents working, and the loss of corporal punishment at school, as well as the erosion of a parents right to smack their own child (yes, you can be charged with assault). A lot of parents just let the kids do whatever they want - whether this is out of guilt for not being home for them or what, i don't know, but I'm sure if the parents spent more time with their kids, their kids would spend less time being destrcutive and a nuisance to society.

Perhaps we need to go back to the public service laws of the late 60s - if a woman got married, she had to leave the workforce (my mum got married just after these laws were rescinded).

They were on P's I think.. The ute was too far away too see plates/back window, and the car that drove past us was dark everything, including really tinted back window so I couldn't see if there was a P plate.. They looked young enough though. They weren't wearing shirts and just looked like typical tossers to me.

They turned their lights off when they drove past as well so we couldn't see plates (was about 12am).. Stupid thing is, there was about 20+ of us on/around the street when they came past, and they had their lights OFF.. They couldn't of seen if anyone was on the road for christs sake.

We caught the cops a little bit later up the road and told them about it, but there's nothing they can do really. My best friends having a bad time at home, and couldn't handle her full time job with stuff going on in life, so she just resigned a couple days ago.. She has about 2-3 grand saved to last her a couple months, but 1 grand of that has already gone because of damage to the car and an operation she has to go through next week.. So looks like she might be stuck where she was again.

It just really ****es me off how no-one has respect for anyone.. I really wish they'd bring back physical punishment in both schools and allow it at home.. ****, even at my younger age, if I did something that wrong i'd expect to get something bad for it, jeez. Even other animals need to whack their offspring to keep them in line, we're no different :

That's ridiculous ey. My mum had some kids come into her work not long ago (she's a vet) and they stole a couple tennis balls from the reception room then left.. Mum found them later down the shops and told them to give them back, but they just told her she couldn't touch them or they'll get her into trouble then ran off! How's the freakin nerve of that.. Sad thing is, it's true :togo:

Two Words

Civil Libertarians.

Sure there was crime and vandalalism in the ole days, but not the blantant vandalsim for vandalism sake that there is today.
The authourities are not allowed to say boo to crims, vandals, punks and the like. Becasue of this, any repsect and fear has been lost. Did anyone see the A Current Affair segmenet on those wan&ers in the Kogarah area and the way they were mouthing off to the Police.

Unfortunately the crim has the same rights as the victim.
SORRY THATS BULLS&IT The momemnt you decide to break the law, is the moment that all your rights and privellages are removed. (before annyone starts.....yes we are talking once convicted, and removing the lame mitigating circumstances)

Here is an example... 45 single mother of two, scumbag breaks and enters her home, and steals jewellery. She wakes up and yells at him. He smashes window, jumps out of it , and lands on shovel in garden bed under window breaking ankle.
Goes to court, he files for injuries sustained during burgarly, states is hooked on amphetamines. Gets off, 45 year old mother of two is forced to pay medical bills for scumbag............... Appeal is pending...... 20 months after original incident.

How has this been allowed to happened????????

Because too many nancy do gooders want to make a name for themselves and start looking after the crims.....and dont forget there are a great number of crims out there, so the points for supporting them are growing.... Soon we the innocents will be out numbered..........and damn, Australia has a anti gun law...............

Agree... One of my mates keyed a nice car in a perth carpark 15 years ago, he now owns a BA XR6 Turbo (very nice) i'm just waiting for the day when he tells me about some ***** that has keyed his car.

I was broken into twice last year and I'm sick of people who are too lazy to work coming in and stealing my stuff that I've worked long and hard to EARN!

Golf clubs laying around are handy too!! Biggest problem guys had while I was at sea was getting rolled while on deployment. One guy got done twice, second time stuff was still in boxes from insurance claim. Didn't take long for cops to work out it was his neighbours. Can't trust no-one any more!!

The only thing I can see happening out of all this anti social behaviour is a group of fed up citizens forming vigilante groups and taking back the streets.

Yeah thats happened to some mates of mine... stuff getting stolen while they were in whats-that-place.... the '04 Tsunami place. I'm at the stage where I bolt down all my irreplaceable stuff like my laptop and lock away all my little things as if I were working in the Pentagon :P

I can also see vigilante groups happening. If the government can't provide the community with enough police officers to patrol the streets, then the community will have to do something about it. I hope it doesnt get that far... but I think it might.

Interesting you both mention that.. My teacher a few years ago who's studied revolutions/foreign cultures/politics all his life said that's where Australia was heading. I had him again, this time for English, last year (year 12) and he still stood by it, stronger than ever. Said something about Australia being one of the biggest nations yet to have a revolution etc as well.

Its not the numbers that are the problem, its the lack of being able to do anything. They have no top cover to be able to do their job and are walking around on egg shells.

He spends his money on things not important and cracks the shits when he has nothing.

The cops have been to our house 4 times in the last year easilly one time being just last week. It's pretty sad when you can pass off police attendance at your house as routine.

Always bragging how much money he earns then always bludging off everyone else and expecting everyone to do everything for him

We both had the same parents, I was brought up in the same house except when I was belted for doing something wrong I never did that again.

And the saddest part is we have for the most part had a very comfortable living circumstances.

Discipline works, I am testament to that. Remember discipline and abuse are too different things and a lot of people could do with a boot in the bum.

A foot up my **** hasn't done me any harm. I'm going north while he is going south!
Yeah my brother is 18 also and he just plain ****es me off.

Sometimes he's alright, but he can be a hypocritical little ****, that doesn't admit his wrong doings.

Every time we have an argument, I always remind him that he's no better then me and he can give ****, but can't take it.

My parents know he's a **** stirrer and he does try to **** me off to the point, where I'm just going deck him and get kicked out.

I'm just as bad however, but I know I am and don't try to hide it.

I'm not saying ALL parents don't care. There are responsible parents out there. In fact, I've heard parents say that their kids are a nuisance to them and cramp their lifestyle. Imagine what the kids think.
I think this is the right answer 100%, if kids were kept inline better by the parents and learnt some respect things would be a whole lot better!

:

Big tough guys yelling abuse from a passing car and driving off... sure that takes some courage and balls doesn't it? Say it to someone's face and see how smart you are.

The posters in this thread are right... the country is fast becoming a cesspool full of youth that have too many "rights" and are afforded too many priveledges. If they do end up getting caught they rarely get what they deserve.

I'm 20 years old, was disciplined (belt, wooden spoon etc.) when I did something I shouldn't have done and it sure as hell hasn't had any negative effects on me. I have respect for others and their belongings. I was disciplined, not abused... there's a difference. I notice it all the time, groups of young kids acting like smartarses, abusing people, vandalising property, setting upon and bashing people that are minding their own business for no apparent reason... it's these ferals that probably only have two balls between the lot of them. On their own they wouldn't be such cocky sons of bitches would they?

It makes me wonder if I should bother having a nice car that I take pride in in the future, because who knows, if I park it at a shopping centre or somewhere some ******** might 'accidentally' run their key along the side of it... because they feel like it.

I'm not sure I'd want to have children and bring them into a world like today's. It makes me sick that all these do-gooders have been able to stop parents from properly disciplining their children.

"Timmy, time out! Go to your room with your TV and iPod and mobile phone and internet and think about what a bad child you've been... and don't come out until you're sorry!" Give me a break...

Wow... I needed to get that off my chest :

Yep, I reckon thats how you get respect. When you copped the **** from the old man or the old lady and it was ten fold. I can remember getting picked on at school and one day reteliated with a one two Ali would have been proud of. any way the guy got a broken nose and I got a floggin from the old man when I got home. people these days get a way with some crap they should get flogged for I reckon. I mean I was never big enouogh to answer the old man back but kids these days... well its all pear shaped and its a soft pear at that.
Good on you mate I like people who know what respect is and I like how they found it, Not many people can say they understand respect from not getting a bit of a floggin when they really did desrve it. to many wek minded people in the world these days and its stuffin it all up.

I like Singapore's laws, but they're pretty packed out at the moment, so it's gonna be hard to move over

Old fashion values. Kids are made to respect their elders even today in a most cases.

I'd like to know what's wrong with the ****** who drove off with $82 worth of premium last night... If I see that car again the tyres are getting slashed & windscreen beat in.
There's no justice like mob justice.

I rarely blow my top but the few times I have he has needed medical treatment lets just say. I need a punching bag so it doesn't build up too much I reckon.

But it's not an actual case of him being annoying (most siblings are like that), he literally hasn't a clue in how the world works at all!

im in EXACTLY the same position as you with my younger sister atm..
had it all handed to her on a platter and she is going nowhere fast...

something has to give with the whole situation and when it does it will be a real **** fight. vigilantes taking the streets back or whatever.

kids cant just keep getting away with this behavior.
i mean i was a pretty bad kid, but never ruined someones sh!t.

they just dont have the most basic of values - do to others what you would have them do to you.

was in the dog park the other day and my dog was doing what he always does , being a tipical kelpie, any way this guys dog had a go at mine, I think nothing of it as its never usually much, just dogs getting to know or sorting them selves out. then my dog pin his smaller pit bull type bred dog and I though nothing of it as he was playing as he does. the dogs came back down our end and the same thing happened, my dog just sat on top of his and growled, nothing in it. My dog is still a pup I will add but this guy came running up agro and said I will kick the s**t out that **** . Well I am not a small bloke and I have no fear of having to defend myself. so you can well amagine what nearly took place, I told him to just go away, I told my dog off rather angrily when really it was not required but I did it in good faith to show I was prepared to. That was not good enough and he proceeded to threaten me. I don't take kindly to being threatened. You normally need to make good your threat but I contiued to tell him to wlak the other way and leave our space. He was a young bloke his GF told use we should take our dog to obediance as he was out of control. I just laughed. frustrated them more when I said to my 12 month old kelpie " heal and sit" he walks round the back of my legs and sits beside me. Hes been doing that since he was 2 months old. I said that dogs got better brains than the pair of you two together. They left hurling insults.

I could not believe it and other owners have said its happened before.
