I bought an MSD ignition box from the States on 27th of October, 2006. Still waiting for it to arrive. I just got a refund through Paypal as I lodged my complaint within the required 45 days and they froze the money in the guy's account. He then emailed me asking me to "resend payment ASAP" . I still haven't got the ignition box. Nice try though.
If it turns up my wife reckons I should just keep it. but I'm too honest to do anything like that! I already lost money in exchanged because its based in US dollars and the Aussie dollar has gone up since I paid for it, so I had to pay MORE AUssie dollars to buy it then I get back.
PS: As a seller on E Bay I always leave feedback aT THE SAME TIME AS i MARK THE ITEM "PAYMENT RECEIVED".

Ebay *******
I just sniped some one at the last 10 seconds of a auction - I have been watching this for the last 5 days and there was 2 biders on it 1 from a member with 147 feedbacks and the other from a 1 feedback
The guy with 1 feedback put a bid on in the last 1 min so he was on top. I then put a bid I was willing to pay with 10 secs left and was the highest bidder and won the item by 50c
About 2 hrs later I get this rank and abusive message from the 1 feedback bone head saying it should be his and he will track me down and serve justice for out bidding him mind you he is in Tas and I am in Bris :
i forwarded the message to Ebay and the copy in my inbox I will send to the coppers if I have no action from Ebay.
Some poeple

Latest update. I just checked the user again, and next to their name are the words "No Longer A Registered User" Seems ebay has removed them. So I'm feeling pretty good. No doubt they will be back, but under a new name.

On another note, appears an item I bid for and won, had the ebay seller suffer the same fate. 1 day before Ebay shut them down, they said they posted the item to me that I won. I had a look at the negative posts for these guys and it appears they have been sending people the wrong product to people. People won the 4gb mp3 players, and the guys who won these for a few bucks were getting 1 gb players. So heres hoping what I paid for, I will be getting. But I'm not holding my breath. Anyway, thats life I guess.

What's interesting is that the seller has stacks of great feedback... then about 90% of the negtaive feedback is only in the past month. How weird.

It makes you wonder whether the earlier feedback was bodgy in some way... or if he just suddenly dropped the ball all of a sudden.

Must be one of the unusual ones . (was a business too , not a private seller)

Yeah, eBay can sometimes do the right thing by people... it's big enough and ugly enough to cop the costs these days, which is a good thing for buyers.

Had some experiences whilst bidding in the last few hours. A bidder kept going higher and higher, so obviously we bid higher. Then it gets too high, so we back out, and the other bidder wins.

We then get an email saying we have won the item for so and so price (the price the other bidder placed). Which we didn't win at all.

Turns out it was the item seller boosting up the price. I don't think this stuff is moral at all.

We didn't buy it. Just goes to show you the ********* in the world.

Well it's morally incorrect. The seller and the one boosting was under two different user names, though they were indeed related.

Well, honestly, the "secret" of eBay bidding... is to not bid. Seriously. Just have a look at what you want to buy, set the price in your mind, and start hammering the bids in during the last 30 seconds or less. Don't get into "****ing contests" with other bidders... all it does is push up the price for everyone. Of course, when I'm wearing my seller hat, I'm quite happy to see people have said ****ing contests, but as a buyer, the smart money's on just sniping the item at the price you want to pay during the last 10 seconds.

The almost foolproof method runs something like this: Say the item's at $30 and you have a maximum bid of $50. Wait until the last 10 seconds, then put in a bid of $50. The dude(s) on the other PCs are sitting there, hitting refresh and suddenly, with 5 seconds to go, your $50 bid takes the maximum to, say, $32.50. Even if they can get the next "shot" in during the time left, it's unlikely they will plug in $50, so they'll plug in, say, $35... and will be instantly outbid because you said $50 and the total will go to, say, $37.50... then time's up and you win. Simple.

Of course, you DON'T put in your $50 bid and leave time for people to nibble away at it with five days to go, or something... that's just self-defeating...!

Is this a bastardly way to win things? Sure. But when everyone else is out to get you, all's fair in love and war.

Just did some digging and...

http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/polici...nt-faqs.html#4
Q. Why can't I bid on my own item?

A. Bidding on your own item is called a shill bid. It is an artificial and unfair method for raising the price. Shill Bidding is prohibited on eBay.

Shill bidding is always a hard thing to prove, even when it's blatant. I had a huge fight with a vendor - and eBay - a few years back when it happened to me. I couldn't truly prove it as the evidence was more circumstantial and eBay ended up treating ME like the dodgy person in the transaction!

Left a bad taste for about six months, that adventure, let me tell you.

eBay can tell if you are Shill bidding as the IP address of your PC is logged.
If 2 usernames are sharing the same IP, bidding on the same item, they will know.
It's just like this place. If you get banned, and you register under another name, the mods can see your IP.
Of course there are ways around this, but you need to know what you are doing to hide or change your IP.
I have bought and sold heaps, and only had one dodgy guy in Adelaide take my money for a mobile, but never delivered it. Got a mate to visit him and he was in jail and declared bankrupt. I hope he drops the soap.

The IP concept doesn't work at all, however, when they get a friend to do the bogus bids. This is also known as shill bidding and examples of it are given here, under the subhead, "Some Examples":

http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/polici...l-bidding.html

For instance: "Bob is a high-volume seller on eBay, who wants to be sure that he never sells at a loss. Rather than use eBay’s “Reserve Price” feature to set his minimum sale prices, Bob has an associate place bids on his auctions... in effect, setting a ‘hidden’ reserve price."

This was the kind of shill bidding I was exposed to, and which is very, very hard to prove. Notably because there are two distinct IP addresses and eBay has to be sure, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the other member wasn't bidding in a genuine fashion. And, so long as their past activities have been above board (ie: they have been buying items, etc), and it's not an account that appears to have been created for the sole purpose of just running up auction prices without actually buying anything, that is hard thing to prove.

I have had the same thing happen to me when I bought a SD card off ebay. The seller lodged a "mutually agree to cancel contract" and refunded money straight away without notifing me. When I emailed him saying that I didn't "mutually agree" and I would like to go through with the purchase he replied that he was "out of stock" so thought I would rather have my money back than wait. I told him that I would wait, and in less than 3 weeks total I had my card. I guess this guy thought it was easier to sell one at a cheap price than possibly affect his ebay rating.

True. I said to julie that when it arrives, if it arrives, I bet it's one gb. But I Paid $150 for a Creative 512mb MP3 player and $135 for a 1gb San Disk Player. These ae name brands and the one from Ebay could be anything. So if it means I only get 1gb for my money, then what can I do to an unregistered user. As you said still cheaper for 1gb than any store. I guess these are the risks, especially when buying off ebay.

Anyway, the player did infact arrive today. Checked it out and it is definatley 4gb. So for my $53, I'm a happy camper. Can't leave positive feedback as the member is deregistered. Think I'll thank my lucky stars.

The guy I got my player from is "buy.mall!"

Quality on the unit is reasonable

This is slightly off topic, but none the less has a lot of relevance:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main...29/nebay29.xml

So, once Ebay got given bad publicity, then they moved.

Also Ebay just posted a 2Billion dollar profit.

2 Billion is not a bad effort. I'm sure the Hong King, China and Singapore power sellers are the ones contributing to that profit

You can obtain their registered name, address and phone number (or at least their phone no., I think) once you have lodged a dispute through the Ebay dispute console. It gives you the option to directly contact them to sort out the problem prior to lodging a full dispute with Ebay.

Good luck,
