Help with LSD

I have just been given a Borg Warner 78 series 28 spline LSD center. Will this match up to the standard AU3 diff? Or are the modifications too horrendous to contemplate. Does the AU come out with 28 spline axles or are they different? Can I use the original crown wheel bolted to this center? Is there any difference with the bearing sizes? Or is this a simple case of old center out new center in and no more single wheel spin.
