Hey, I know its not Ford, but at the moment my daily driver is a manual Mazda 323. I hear a loud clicking sound coming from the wheels when I'm turning. I've been told that this is the CV or constant velocity shafts on the way out. Ive been quoted 40 - 50 dollars a side for the good second hand parts from clayton mazda wreckers, Allmaz, I was just wondering if I bought a repair manual for my car if I could put these in myself. How hard would this be? also if anyone has any more information on how I can put them in or take them out any comments/links would be appreciated.
Cheers guys! |

all about CV joints
Part one general information http://www.aa1car.com/library/cvjoint1.htm Part two faults and diagnosis http://www.aa1car.com/library/cvjoint2.htm for second hand cvs thats an ok price but they may be just a s bad some places exchange and fit while you wait for a little bit more with a warrenty to DIY you need to have some tools a jack and car stands need some mechanical knowlage and not easy :togo: the outer nut neds to be undone thats very tight then you have to undo tie rod end and the 2 nuts/bolts on the lower front strut work the cv joint out of the spline the put a container to catch the oil under the cv joint to gearbox give then a soild tug and the cv joints should come off the refit keeping the spines aligned and then the outer nut has to be put back up tight

when you do the l\h one make sure that side is a lot higher than the drivers side is. ie just jack it up a side at a time. otherwize all your diff\ gearbox oil will go everywhere and make a mess. r\h one is easy but you have to pull hard to get the circlip to let go..... nearly yanked the car off the stand when i took it off for rwc cos mine had grown on a little.
