Default Radio Error Message

Sorry if this has been asked before but I am new to this site and cannot find a search function.

We recently had a problem with airbag light, horn etc.. and I took it to a garage to get it fixed and they must have disconnected the battery. This meant the radio needed us to put a code in. We guessed it twice as we could not find the handbook, which we have now found. But it now says ERR and won't let us type in the code. We tried disconnecting the battery for a few hours but it still displays the error message. What can I do? Thanks.

it will say ERR for longer and longer periods depending how many times you tried before ERR came up

so just wait (i think its hours later)..and then it will let you try again

You have to leave the accessories on ( so radio is on showing ERR ) after awhile CoDE should then reappear and you will be able to enter the correct code

same thing happened to me when i first bought my wagon. after numrous attempts of guessing, i finally decided to read the owners handbook : you need to leave the accessories on, radio on for a long period of time (length of time depends on how many times code was entered incorrectly as after the first 3 attempts, you only get one go each time the radio comes back to code!!) i found that after about 1 1/2 hrs i had access to it when i found my code and was able to re-enter it. if you are unable to get it, take it back to who ever removed your battery, and get them to do it at their cost. being a mechanic, i know. they aresupposed to place a code saving memory device that plugs into your cigarette lighter before disconnecting the battery. many mechanics dont. take it back to them and get them to get it sorted it may teach them a valuable lesson
