Default Front Speakers, How do I get to them?

Hey, I have a el ghia , and one of the front speakers has a little rattle in it. For some reason i thought the speaker cover had screws, and I could easily get to it. It appears not!.

Can i pop the cover off? Or do I have to take the whole door trim off to get to it. I was going to try and pop the speaker cover off, but thought i would ask here first. As i didnt want to break/scratch/mark anything.

you have to remove the whole door trim.

Just check the mounting depth of the new spaeker. you may have to use spacers.

i couldnt believe the difference when i put new ones in!!!
I used the JayCar Precision 6.5" splits in the front and 6.5" 2 way in the rear they sound good and punchy and excelent value for money.

I have been biten by the stereo bug again and a friend has a SQ system he is selling me. so its going to be mad!

enjoy the new speakers

OR you could do what I do at work, get a carry handle plastic tool tray with compartments from Bunnings for $10 and put the screws from each part of the door into there own compartment. Means the screws go back in the right place. Eseries aint that bad for screws but sheesh some euro cars are crazy with different screws.

Most definitly replace your speakers if you can stevo, the factory speakers besides being only 15w dont have a very clear sound. If your going to replace with splits as you should (believe me people come into work asking for 2ways into NF Fairlanes ing_sm ) get some TSC Pioneers or Alpine DDdrive's if you have got the dosh to spend.

Hmm yeah and im sure the 2nd you turn it up LOUD they would sound crap, and distort like crazy.

If they were sooo good niko, why would ANYONE update speakers. I wouldnt have a job then :

But we are talking about 6" speakers in a EL here, not 4" in a EA

a 4" speaker is a 4" speaker. You cant expect much from them. Mind you, replacing the stock ones will give you a more crisper sound but not much in bass being 4".

i had them up loud.... but everyone here is saying that stok speakers are just , wen in fact if tuned correctly can sound not bad.

i dont turn speakers up loud to hear distortion i turn them up as loud as they possibly can go WITHOUT distortion *cough equaliser and many variable settings available on even old y headunits:P

if i could get good sound for 4" speakers whats to say that 6" isnt an easier job... ford premo sound is not bad also

im also not supporting factory speakers, they do suck i aggree, BUT u can get decent sound out of them if u play with the settings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

the sound from the premo setup isnt too bad. Its got a decent quality (changed 8" parcel sub for 10" box sub)..

Until you pull up next to a car with a half decent stereo that is !

the 6.5" Kevlar Coaxials go very well to, i have them in the rear shelf, but i'm waiting for our new 6" Kevlar Splits to come in before i put new ones in the front.

Them and our new amps, and Caps will be in mid feb.

with your premium sound system can you tell me the part number on the bottom of the speakers in the parcel shelf. do you have a pic of them . i have the same system however i am trying to put it back in the car but im not sure which speakers are for the front and which are for the back as they are diferent. what colour is the clip for the wiring... is it a black clip or a white one (for the parcel shelf rear speakers) what colour clip is on the speaker too.

To get them off, get a pair of locking pliers and a rag, put the rag over the lock and pull it up with the locking pliers.

By the way you said OUR I'm assuming you work at Jaycar. I work at the Ringwood store. I must admit I'm really impressed with the Reponse gear. I'm getting the 800W Mono to run my subs as soon as I have some dosh.

Door trims aren't that hard to remove. But I suppose when you have done it day in day out for over 6 months it gets a lot easier.
