Default Auto heat shield?

This is going to be stupid without pics, but ...
This morning while changing the oil in the AU 5.0L I noticed a piece of metal that looks like a heatshield hanging from one of the cables heading into the auto. It looks like it's meant to protect all the wiring to the auto on the passenger side? I clipped it back on when I "think" it goes; there is a tab with a hold in it molded on the auto case which this things seems to fit into at the top, and the bottom of the shield clips over the transmission pan edge.
Does this sound right? I can't find any references to this shield in any of my manuals ..

That sounds like the shield that covers the inhibitor switch (white circular plastic thingy with two looms entering it, 120 degrees apart).

Yep I'd say so to, but I've never noticed it before and can't find any reference to it ..

Hmm, odd...

My EB V8 has one of those. I guess it's a BTR thing in general?
