Default Brisbanites: Try this - Cheap Fuel!

I have no idea what happened, but went to the Coles Express Shell on Oxley road Sherwood, pumped $20 with Optimax @ 108.5 on pump 5, but get this, paid with eftpos and ONLY GOT CHARGED $4.35!!!!

If your in the area might be worth while to see if you get lucky.

Hate to tell you, but once they look through the reports tomorrow, and balance up the takings they will notice a problem and contact your bank.
They have your Eftpos details and the transaction number.

We have to do this all the time at work.

If you paid cash, then you'd be home free, but he said he paid by Eftpos.

I work in a petrol station, sometimes if ur not paying attention u can just bring up the wrong sale, and cauz people are so ****ed up and don't know what pump they come from or how much they got, they agree with everything u tell them and can end up chargin people different amounts. doesn't bother us as we get our money, may bother the person who paid $44 for $4 of fuel tho...

I'd go along with this too.
I used to work in a servo too......you have probably noticed the attendants never ask, "was that the $5.00 or the $10.00?" no its "was that the green ford? or the red hyundai? or maybe was that the unleaded or lead replacement?"
I was very aware of what I asked...never gave the $$$$ option to the customer, they would screw you every time.

lol imagine if someone loaded up with petrol after reading the first post. it would be so funny.

well when they ask for the money and if it doesnt add up to what you put in then you know if they got the right pump. i never pay unless they tell me how much i owe so i know if im overcharged. also check if the eftpos machine is correct aswell. i wonder how many people in any shop would just key in and go without checking.

I had the console operator run out after me cause he screwed up once.
But if it's like Coles or Woolies I know how their daily balancing routines work, and they WILL go after it. They have to.

You couldn't just leave. You're on camera, and you would have to pay, or possible get done for stealing.

coles charged me to much on a item and the law tells them if they do incorrectly charge they have to give it for free.

Yeah I don't think they can re-ask you for more money, my gf is a manager at coles and she told me that if they **** up its their problem. Thats like when their EFTPOS system goes down they have to get you to sign every docket to authorise them to take the money out. A checkout chick forgot to get someone to sign once and they couldn't hassle the customer for the money afterwards.

But even in a place like Coles I think many things are up to the store manager, not everything (most things are) is set in stone.

Dan..

Having worked for Coles i can tell you right now if they screw up and you're out the door they wont come after you.

Coles also wont go after you if you take 10 extra boxes of the chocolates they give the staff at Christmas home - this i found out myself :Reverend: .

There is a difference between a supermarket and a service station... The supermarket has policies about charging the wrong amount, and getting the item for free.... The service station on the other hand (like all shops) has the right to chase the op for the money, and if the op refuses, then theft charges could result...

I've been guilty of not checking the eftpos amount before punching in my pin, but after getting charged for someone else's fuel ($15 more than mine) I went straight back in, politely informed the console operator that he had screwed up and after a quick check of what cars were still in the yard, he gave me the $15.
