Most people start with an exhaust system, extractors and high flow cat. Then move onto something like 20% under drives, a bigger air intake and then a tune.
Check this section of the site it's got lots of info: http://fordforums.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=176 |

How fast do you want to go? Exhaust + extractors will only net a slight gain (I know from experience). If you really want to go fast forced induction is your friend.

Don't put a V8 in it. Don't put a Typhoon motor in it. Too much time and expense for boht of those options. You would be better off selling and buying a car with a V8 instead.

Underdrive is a smaller crankshaft pulley so that your accessories drive slower, reducing drag on the engine. To keep the same length belt, a slightly smaller crank pulley is usually coupled with larger pulleys for the accessories which you want to slow down (usually alternator and water pump). I often wonder how badly this affect charging and cooling systems, but it can't be too bad coz I haven't read any complaints yet. Probably not great to leave it idling for a long time tho.

Definately a flash tune and extractors would help heaps.
I remember reading an article in street machines where they found that the DIVCT in the Barra isn't even utilised. Get some valve overlap happening! |

Hi XLute,
suggest you start by having a good look through the bseries forum on this site, a lot of very good info there and plenty of members who have spent a lot of time figuring out what to do to to get the most from their cars. Also there is a Bseries web site http://www.bseries.com.au which has a very well written mods section. You might want to join while you are there. Good luck with the ute. Cheers Jeremy
