I bought a $45 wrench from autobarn and it hada little plastic thing that sat inside a hole on the side of the the torque wrench.
That has now gone missing, it still clicks but is it reading right? I need to tighten up my exhaust manifold and according to the wrench they needed around 1/2 a turn. |

If its plastic, I can't see it being used it the torque settings of the torque wrench. Mine hits metal on metal so that it doesn't get dinted or and change the settings.
Does anything hit or touch where the plastic thing was? Did it stick out at all?

If you have been using it to undo bolts it may be out of calibration.

The little plastic plug covers the adjustment screw used for calibration. As long as you don't move the screw it should be reasonably accurate.
