Default WOW a cheap Cobra... hmmmmm

http://www.autotrader.com.au/iteminf...6+Unique+Cars_

Does this belong to anyone on here?

If the link doesn't work do a search for 'cobra' in the trading post.

Wild guess.... but this is yet another scam right?

I just rang them and they said they know nothing about it and have had quite a few calls.
Bugger because it's in my suburb too, I'd have been around there faster than Kevin RUDD unpacking his suit case at Kirrabilli.

Do you mean they know nothing about the car itself, or it being for sale?

They said they had no car for sale.
The ad shows the correct post code and the phone number is the correct prefix for the suburb.
So I'd say someone is playing around.
Theres an email address, and aren't those plates from Tasmania.

ok,

I had emailed em, asking for a pic of the compliance plate. lol This is their response:

Quote:
Hi,

I'm really glad that you are interested in my car.First of all I want to say
that it has a clear and clean title with no accident records,it has never
been abused or raced.I am the first and the only owner of this beautiful car
that has been spoiled like a baby.I always kept it in my garage, away from
bad weather and it looks gorgeous.Unfortunately I am forced to let it
go.Yousee, due to my job I had to move to United Kingdom and I just
found a great
house offer. The thing is that I have to make a deposit so I can be sure that
I won't loose this great offer. On the other hand, I hope I will find someone
who will treat this baby like I did.All you have to do is to pay a small
amount of AU $9.000 with all the shipping costs included.I hope you are the
buyer that I'm looking for, please let me know if you are still interested.

Best regards,
Awwwww sounds oh so legit.... till I traced his email haaaaaa,

Reported... scammers like this quote an amazing price to try and lure people into paying before seeing. Usually it's a Western Union money transfer... nice find!

Scam-o-rama!! Was on e-bay a few months ago. I know the car and the guy who sold it is a long term member of the Falcon Cobra Club. Went for the low $80K range.

I'd hate to be the person that phone number belongs to.

And to you lowlife scammers........ GET A JOB!!

Its one thing that the phone numbers on there, but what about there car being on there. Imagine this
You are searching on Ebay for some parts for your GT and you see a GT that looks very much like yours, then you realise it is yours imagine those first thoughts that would go through your mind.

Gone!

Quote:
Hello, thank you for reporting this to us. The seller and the ad in question are not legitimate and the ad has been removed from our site. The Trust & Safety team at Trading Post endeavour to remove these fraudulent ads as quickly as possible and we share your concern about this type of criminal activity.

This is a common scam that is being operated across car-selling websites at the moment. Fraudulent sellers are advertising vehicles for sale at well below market value in order to entice would-be buyers to send them money for items that they don’t own. Typically these vehicles are being advertised online by the genuine owner and the ads are simply copied and listed for sale at a reduced price on another website such as Trading Post. The criminals only correspond with interested buyers by email as they do not reside in Australia and any contact number provided in the ad is usually disconnected. The seller attaches a sense of urgency to the sale (e.g. divorce, moving overseas) and once they determine a sale is imminent, they forward the buyer a fake email purporting to be from another website’s buyer protection program with instructions to make payment via Western Union. The buyer is informed that once the payment is received, the vehicle will be shipped to them and, should the buyer change their mind, their money will be returned to them via monies stored in the fake buyer protection program; the entire scam is performed without the buyer having ever viewed the vehicle or spoken to the seller.
