Default AU forum stickies

Evening all

I have just removed a number of old sticky threads that were previously located up the top of the forum. They are still available however to find them you will need to search for them as opposed to looking for them.

I'd like some suggestions as to what new threads should be created/stuck for this forum, obviously the basics such as servicing etc were useful but I think these might be better off on aufalcon.com.au. I would like to create a thread to be stuck here that does answer some of the more common question such as 220 motors in XR8's etc.

Please post any ideas you may have for threads here. Ta!

why dont we create a subforum and dump all the stickies/technical threads in there.

maybe make it read only and trim all the crap from them. people can still ask questions, but in the ordinary forum. just leave it as like a technical database. all GK's how-to's wouldnt go astray in there either! :

I second that. Long live the GK How -To's, between him, JC and Whoosha there is nothing a person can't do themselves with a bit of advice from these guys.

Aust, the AU power and times was an ok thread to have stickied. But I agree that a sub forum is the way to go. AUFalcon.com general & AUFalcon.com Technical plus the workshop builds.

All that sort of stuff should be articled and sent across to aufalcon.com and save the AU Falcon section in AFF from unnecessary repetitiveness and clutter.

My thoughts exactly. I do like the idea of a technical section though.

Agreed, put the power and times back, and add another sub-forum for the tech threads.

how many people look at aufalcon.com for technical advice?

i dont.

most people come straight to AFF. so why not have it articled. on both? AFF and AUFalcon.com

new people will always ask "is my car a 220" no matter whether there is a section titled XR8 MOTOR FAQ or not. people are just stupid like that. all we can do is try to make it easy for people to find the info so the repetitive questions stop.

i do think if we make like a technical section with all the stickies in it, make it READ ONLY. so those threads and the forum within it dont get all cluttered up with posts etc.

I do. It is a better set up over there than it is stickied all over the place here.

Because it is a waste of time and space on both servers.

Labelling everyone as stupid is an inappropriate terms of use for users here. Perhaps uninformed or confused? Having a cluttered forum full of stickies here is only going to complicate new users to start asking such questions.

So we're going to have an untapped resource over at the aufalcon.com site and duplicate everything here?

Not a particularly logical thing to do in my opinion.

ok maybe labelling people stupid wasnt right,

but my point was that more people know AFF than aufalcon.com, and i'd put money on it, that they would come here first before searching on AUFalcon.com

I agree that aufalcon.com is not being used to its full potential and I would rather see technical documents etc listed on there, and then have them open to discussion or creating new ones via a technical forum here. I don't like the idea of locking the threads in the tech forum as the whole idea of that forum would be to discuss any issues, problems etc that might arise when working on your car.

I'll talk to admin about the creation of the tech forum and then we can go from there.

Tech forum would be awesome.

I reckon stickies for servicing, XR8 220's, ba brakes, and manual conversions would be good.

I reckon dual post. I can't AFF at work any more because any URL with forum is block, but I can still get aufalcon.com be cause its not a forum. The tech guides can be stored in one place, just hot link to them (no doubles).

Thanks Austin, I'd be happy with that.

Just to keep everyone updated, this is being looked at and we should be able to sort something out in the next few weeks.
