Hi folks,
My VCT unit is ticking. Happens intermittently, however increases with air con & headlights on. Sounds like the my old EAs lifters. There's not much in Ellery's to have a good look at it. Can anyone offer any suggestions or diagrams of internals? Cheers |

if its making the tackety tack noise at about 1-1500rpm under light load (say a LIGHT rev to these rpm or holding a slow speed and lightly pressing the throttle (easier heard near a concrete barrier etc) it will be your lifters..
its a typical 4ltr issue dont worry too much about it

Hi mate. The ticking is actually within the VCT unit. At first I thought it might have been from the VCT idler pulley but the noise seems to be emitted from the unit itself. Cheers

Yeh the unit at the front mate. It comes and goes but is having no effect on performance or economy. It just seems odd how it increases under load from the headlights/air con. Maybe it just is one of the bearings after all. But any further info on what it could be within the VCT unit would be great!
