I'm interested to know how everyone else cleans their engine and engine bay. Do you use a dry rag or pressure cleaner or something else? What's the best thing to do?

Pressure clean the engines at work. Seems to be the best way to clean them especially when very dirty\oily. Extra bits can be touched up with armourall or something similar afterwards.

just a rag and armourall. I would never let it get dirty enough for anything else!

I always use a pressure sprayer, its worked great on all the cars Ive used it on and it doesnt cause problems if you be aware of things like air filters (mor for the older cars), alternators and ignition coils etc etc. Always good to degrease while the engines dead cold otherwise it will dry up real quick and then your back to square one, as soon as its all soaked in degreaser turn the car on and start spraying. Also once your done keep the car on with the bonnet down so most of the water can evaporate real quick

A gerni is the only way to clean an engine just cover your main electrics what car are you cleaning some have different problems when cleaning eg:coilpacks on commonwhores.
Also use a non costic degreaser as it leaves white powder on some metals.

I use Meguiars quick detailer and a rag, if it's going to clean the outside well it sure will do the engine bay. Also it won't turn anything alloy white, dry out the hoses or cause rust on anything.

when I got my AU, i gave it about 6 hours of overall attention on the first day.
Engine detailing, was pretty stock standard i guess, some over the counter de-greaser followed by a fresh boiled water rinse and some elbow grease. Then a high pressure cold water spray, little bit of a dry rag and some armourall to make it sexy. looked good for me but all is in the eye of the beholder. btw.. go and get yourself a steam cleaner thingy.. mine personally came with several attatchments and my god they can be used for anything, can really help clean a engine bay or even bad tile grout!. I use the pressure washer and degreaser. I just cover up the distributor, and go nuts!
