Default Wiring in interior party lights

What wires do I tap into to run some small interior lights (disco type from autobarn)

Currently they are into the ciggerette lighter, but I want it to be hidden.
Any help will be good, I suck at working out wiring diagrams, so best avoid showing me them.

thanks...

When do you want them on?
When you open doors and unlock the car?

Id either wire in another ciggy lighter in behind the dash (can go off the same wiring the factory one has) and plug them in there, or put them in the rear cig lighter at the back of the console between the seats - still be visible but not as obvious.

I could help, but not with party lights. LOL

So...let's pretend it's for another courtesy light and you want them to come on when you open the door, or when you turn the interior light on. Best way to go is to tap a power and earth wire into the existing interior light wiring circuit in the roof - ie run 2 cables from the interior light, under the roof lining, down the side of the passenger side door, under the carpet, and then connect it up to your disco...errrr, courtesy, light. You could just cut the cig plug off and wire + to + and - to -, and leave the switch in as well. B2tf might know of an easier way to get to the interior light circuit (perhaps from the back of the fuse box! - actually, that might work, or even from the main series of plugs behind the kick panel on the drivers side footwell area.)

No. There's no beach in Canberra.

That would be easier! And the negative wire is the black with blue stripe, IIRC. But you should also just be able to put the negative from the lights to a good metal contact on the chassis, and just tap into the Green/yellow wire.

May be at the car show, but I'm not sure - hopefully, yes, though.

Pine Island is a river, not a beach! Though it does have sand.

No 5 fuse (10A, I think), in the fuse compartment just above your right knee when you are sitting in the driver's seat. If it blew, it means the lights are drawing too much power, or you have managed to leave a bare wire which is contacting the body. Try a 15A fuse, and if that blows too, then check the wiring.
