Default How to search the forums

OK this may seem like a dumb question, but seeing the number of people appraently no searching maybe not.

How do you FORCE the search to include certain terms? For example, if I search for "Map Sensor" in advanced search, it just says "the word Map was too common and not included", which is a PITA as I then get 50000 hits by just searching for "sensor".

How can I force it to include a term?

thanks.

Andy

before you get to advanced search just type in "map sensor"

Now how the hell do i explain this...............

There are yellow headings for different functions above

Move the mouse to the yellow heading that says "Search"

Click search and type in "Map Sensor"

Hit "return" and sweet there is your search

If you go inot advanced search you can search different sections of the forums http://www.fordforums.com.au/search.php?

We may need to add Map to the short word listing of the search engine, otherwise use a wildcard * at the end of Map

I think the search capabilities of this website are useless.

My opinion.

If you enter the search term in quotation marks, it'll search for posts with both MAP and SENSOR in it.

Ok thanks for that - yes clearly I know how to use the search functions from my post. You will find, if you try it, that typing in map sensor does not search for map sensor whether you use normal or advanced search. I'm trying to get some extra gen to help people avoid asking the same question twice.

Laminge and Rob - thanks for the useful gen.

Andy

And yes I did search for this!

No worries! Is there actually a list of possible strings somewhere people could reference (to look for things like the * character). I looked but wasn't obvious....

cheers

Andy
