Default luxury car taxs & rego

im been looking at possibly getting something like a E series or AU fairlane, especially the AU series as i like the styling better but one thing that worries me is luxury car tax and registration..... are there extra fee's involved cause these cars are a luxury or is this only appliciable when the vehicles are new?

just looking for info atm as im still window shopping

The LCT threshold atm is $57180 so unless your paying more than that for an AU Fairlane you will be fine.

is there a way to find out how much the RTA registration amount is for these vehicles or does it change from town to town etc?

anyone have one in NSW (preferably an AU fairlane) that can share RTA fee?

Considering the resale value on a AU means you can buy one for the price of a large Big Mac meal and sundae, you've got nothing to worry about. :P

they certainly in my price range atm thats for sure and figured i might go something with a few more mod cons and more comfortable than my little brumby run about and the towing capacity on the au fairlane is 2300kg, be a nice tow vehicle for the XA too... 2 birds with one stone

Mines coming up soon but last year it was....

Rego.... $373
3rd party$235

Having said that, 3rd party has increased about $30 and rego will probably go au a little as well.

Oh, and those prices are for Country NSW.

my 3rd party will remain high due to my age unfortunatly. Even tho im 27, my green slip for my subi brumby was still $509 and was told the NEW 'minimum' age is now 30!! thats with discount for being a good driver, no accidents, claims or speeding fines in 5yrs.... was quite a kick in the nuts...

better do some shopping around cause can only imagine a fairlane greenslip being a little higher again

Bloody hell. Thats a bit rough. Definitely shop around.

I think there's a site online (somewhere) that gives green slip comparison prices.
