Dunno if anyone else was interested but on the off chance this was the song from the ad, I've been told its Tim Rogers from You am I singing.
D/load here :dj:
'Waiting to Play' (from the Long Live Cricket TV commercial)

I've been living in shadows
Corners and calico, but perculating inside
Wound up as a shoestring, need a sunburn sting
Feel my blood like mercury rise

Jump up from the covers, sleepin' aint for summer
I'm a slingshot i come knockin'
The day opens wide like a father's pride
Summer hits..

So are you with me or is you aint now baby
We been hibernating waitin' to play
Pulse skips a beat finally i get my way
Our time begins again today

Whip crack come out your window
Run on through the sprinkelered lawns into ice-cream mornings
Sun breaks through butterfly cocoon
Summer blush let's go get gone...
