Hey all, I'm new to here and I've just read this thread and thought I'd throw in my two cents. Can I suggest simply registering a channel on an established IRC network? I'd strongly suggest Austnet for the following reasons.
1) It is an established Australian network & has been the Australian standard for IRC Servers for a number of years. 2) It's a relatively stable network 3) It has secure, reliable and functional services for Channel registration & management, Nickname registration & management also a useful mail (NoteOP) system. 4) It is the IRC Home of numerous other car clubs, cruise clubs etc. It'd probably be a good opportunity for some cross promotion. 5) There isn't the need for the large time investment, and financial commitment required to run a reliable and functional IRC Server. Like I said, it's only my two cents.. well, 2.2 cents GST incl. I'm interested to hear what you think! haha, well maybe i should have read pages 3 & 4 of this thread. i would have saved myself ten minutes. sorry. Last edited by godspeed; 07-03-2005 at 09:08 AM.
