Default BA Fairmont Badges on AU (Pics)

Ok, so yesterday I got bored so I decided to shop around for some Fairmont badges to just finish off my car nicely because I found that the rear S1 Fairmont badge just kept the back looking out dated and abit bland.

So I called motor traders and bought the last of the BA MkI and MkII Fairmont badges that they had in stock. Worked out nicely as they only had 3 left which was what I was after. So I drove over to Grand Junction Road and picked them up (not a cheap exercise, $120.10 for the 3 badges).

We got the car home and worked on peeling the S1 Fairmont badge off, Hair Dryer and Fishing wire works perfectly to get the badge off of the original glue. Then we used petrol on the glue on the paint and wipped it off.

The rear Fairmont badge barely fits onto the boot and you have to be perfectly exact on your messurments to ensure that it fits.

All up it took us about a 55 minute job to complete.

I also did something alittle different and put the Fairmont badge's on the rear doors like the Calias have. I'm not sure if this has been done before, If so I'd like too see pics too.

I have some pics so please tell me what you think.

Regards, Nathan.

i agree the badges on the rear doors look awesome, i was thinking it was going to turn out really disateres, but looks classie.

oh and for future reference try heating up the badge with a hair dryer or a Heat gun, just dont have it really hot or ull bubble the paint and put some fishing like behind it and pull it across, it makes the badge come off a lot easier and so does the glue.. so no need to use a screw driver where u can chip the paint, just some helpful advice

Thanks guys really appreciate it. I'll take some pictures from a distance when my car gets home again (mum's taken it into town). It looks much better from further back on the doors.

Cheers Brad. We did use a hair dryer lol but that gluey stuff on the bottom wouldn't come off at all so we used petrol and my cousin used the screw driver very very carefully lol ...

doors look great. something ive been meaning to do for a long time.

but ive been looking for the EA badges as opposed to BA. they are the silver writing on the black background and i reckon they look wicked. down low just above the skirts.

the back badge.....

eitherway looks good!

The boot badge is far to big for the area to fit in nicely and you can still see the holes from the previous badge.

No I think we stuffed up the back one it's a TAD on an angle. but you can only see that in the pictures as it's only about 2mm out. In real it looks straight.

I honestly liked the look of the boot badgeless TBH but I'll leave it awhile before I change it lol.

Thanks guys! :-D

Once again nathan, you've come up with a winner by being stylish and not tacky.

OMG your using a chisel! You must have a steady hand, id make a meal of that.

I thought prepsol and a credit card was the easy way.

Regardless it does look better, although tight fit on the back.

Looks good champ, will be doing the door badges to my own ASAP. I agree with the Majority of everyone else in not liking the boot badge... But in saying that i dont like the AU one either. Anyone got any suggestions on what to use to cover the holes?
