Well, being a standard 250 in a car that had a 170, it's pretty quick! But, it doesn't go like a 351 with all the stuff on it!!! Handles well with the 8" wheels and sounds nice with the Lukey. I LOVE the burbble as you de-accelerate...

Would have loved this car when I was 17 (40 years ago), the guys (and chicks) would have gone nuts over it.

Default XR-XW Fuel Tank

Now that this XP is really running well with a XW radiator, new timing chain, harmonic balancer, clutch and universals, I want to drive further! Unfortunately the XP tank is only 11 gallons, so I am looking for a bigger tank. Anyone got a XR-XY tank in their pocket they would like to move to a good home?

Default Tanked Up!

So, bought an XY fuel tank on Ebay. Spent 2 days cutting and pasting and it's now installed. Instead of the standard 11 gallon, I now have a 22 gallon tank to feed the 250. Should get further than twice around the block now. Just finishing off the fuel filler.

Next project is to source and fit a BW T5 gearbox. Anyone got one sitting in the shed???

Saw some on eBay the other day in Lismore - a complete conversion package for an XF, plus a T5 from an EA.

Talking Getting Cooler

So, I've now pulled the XY radiator out and had the rods through it. Ran it to the Urangan SHS Formal in Maryborough last night and the temp did not go over 200 degrees on the highway. Does that sound about right?

Have recently fitted the XY tank too, don't have to stop every 100k to fill her up now...

Default T5 Gearbox

My neighbour has GIVEN me a T5 with bell housing out of an XF. Believe they go straight on to a 250 pre-crossflow??? Box needs doing up and given it is going into the XP, we'll have to fiddle with the tailshaft and universals.

Development goes on. I have just purchased a crossflow 250 to go into the XP. Transplant happening this week. Looks like a fairly straight forward job. She'll hop along then! : : :

Finally, a cool XP! Engine transplant to a 250 cross-flow is complete. Along with headers and a 2 1/4" system. Engine now sits on 180 degrees. Need to put the timing light on it, get rid of the electric choke etc, but a great success!

Default Hi Ho Holley!

Had trouble starting the new cross-flow with the Weber and all the emission control stuff. Sad days! Just fitted the Holley 350, hit the button, away she goes! All I need now is an accelerator cable that fits. Any ideas? I believe an HJ Holden one fits (perish the thought)!

So, the Holley 350 was set up by Northside Carburettors in Brisbane before I fitted it to the car. Seems to be running lean under acceleration. Suppose I should check filter, pump. What else? Any ideas?

A new set of plugs has made a big difference. So, off to Jarrett's in Maryborough this week for a dyno tune.

Well, the diagnosis is only 50psi in No. 6 cylinder. Wet test proved that the exhaust valve is dodgy. So, off with the head!

So, did the head, another motor, disc brakes fitted. Finally back on the road. Fine tuning is next, then hopefully off to Leyburn Sprints.
