Default Price for Transmission Service

hey guys,

Just wondering what is the average cost for a full transmission service i.e:
Filter
Seal
and full flush and new oil?

120-150 mate..
with a flush it's normally just over the 200 mark..
cost me 180 for a full flush, filter and gasket about 2 years ago..
I imagine prices may have gone up a little..

don't worry about a full flush
just get a pan drop and filter and new oil style service
$120-$150 is right

why not go for the full flush? i thought it was a good idea if its never been done before or the transmission hasnt been serviced much
having said that ive never done a flush either lol

I got mine full flush everything included for ~$170 from Currumbin Transmission Centre ( up around the Gold Coast, good bloke)

hey, the car has 135K on the clock, the book dosent state any transmission work done just normal service's, so i am getting a full flush plus filter and seal for around 220 sound allright?

there called Rapid Tune in Mitcham, they seem like nice blokes and they had a special multi thing on where you buy a heap of stuff for half price, so not to bad like this transmission service, aswell as 2 normal services, brake pad replace and fit and radiator flush for 200

It all depends on the fluid doesn't it? - if the fluid looks ok, maybe going a bit brown but still redish, then no real need for a flush. If its really gone off colour, then definately flush. You won't know till you check I suppose.

I had mine done a few weeks back, cost me $130 for the service of the trans, and then another $90 on top of that to do the flush as well.

So for $220 I got the service & flush, and it now changes more smoothly than I think its ever done in my ownership of it even though I have had it done before.

Not sure whether they did seal/filter or not, I just asked for the service and the flush. At a place called DRW Automatics at Lonsdale (SA) - which I had heard a few decent reports about. Was impressed with their service and could tell as soon as it clicked into second when I took off that they'd done what I'd paid them to!

I have seen boxes destroyed by full flushes. The machines can be too agressive and dislodge crap to where it shouldn't be. Thats why everyone should just have a pan drop once a year and then everything is always alright.

Mine's gone into the workshop today and one of the things on the list is the auto. Will be flushed if necessary if the old fluid is burnt, which I suspect it might be.

Last full flush I had on my old EL Ghia worked a treat as the previous owner had neglected it badly. Auto performed heaps better, sharper shifts, no slippage or flaring between gears.

Interesting comments in the article above though which I'll ask my mechanic about this afternoon.

The trick is to not get get a "powered" flush. Passive flush is what is required.
