Default engine question

hi i have a mk1 escort van just got a blue slip but have noticed on the block it has 711M6015BA . i looked up some info now confused as my one is surposed to be a 1300 . can some one tell me if its a 1300 or 1600 block as the last letters on the block coinside with a 1600

AA = 1300
BA = 1600

hi another question did the mk1 come out with this engine or do i need to have engineers cert as i brought this car unrego and just got it a blue slip today but they put it as a 1300

Hopefully someone who knows Escorts can reply, but my general understanding is yes. I'm reasonably sure the 'Mexico' Mk1 Escort had a 1600 crossflow engine, and there were certainly more powerful versions (Lotus Twin Cam, RS1600 and RS2000).

It would depend on your local regulations, but I'm not sure you'd need to see an engineer.

You should probably go and see the person who did the inspection to clear the matter up, before it causes any problems for you.

1600 crossflows were standard in Mk1s.

The only MK1's fitted with the kent 1600 was the mexico's, I have never heard of anyone having problems changing from a 1300 to 1600 from an engineering side of things as the only difference between the 1300 & 1600 is the 1600 block is about an inch taller than the 1300..
plus the Mk1's were factory fitted with 2ltr pintos (sedans only thou) as Jamie said before I would be very surprised if you have any issues apart from having the numbers match your rego
