Short answer is no, although there are a few handfuls of imports about. A few rs's ive seen at shows, that's about it.

A number of Mk4 RS Turbos seem to come into the country via Perth. I am aware of 2 in the Canberra region (don't know address, so don't ask), just seen them at club shows.
Official Escort builds in OZ ceased with Mk2 around 1981 (?).
That size car was replaced with Laser, Mazda323-based .

Do people take notice of them at the shows. or do people tend to appreciate the mk1's and mk2's a bit more?

I know of at least 1 Mk3 RS Turbo which was around 12 or so years ago, as I was planning on buying it but just missed out. It was a metallic sky blue colour and had the turbo removed to help with insurance. I'd still love to find the car if it was around, it was a very tidy example.

Cheers

Yeah mk3 and mk4's get no love really. They went fwd didn't they? That would have killed them, that and we got the laser as well.

After that we only go the imports from the 90s with the AWD Escort Cossie.
The Cossie imports I see are the Sierra and Sapphires around ... and the odd RS500.

They still command some coin though if you want a neat example.

yea they went fwd, i think as the escort got smaller there was no really point making a car that small rwd, thats why the mk1's and mk2's are so legendary

Ahhh....that takes me back, I used to do lots of work on these when I lived in the UK..

Really regret not bringing a nice Cosworth AWD Escort when I migrated to Adelaide!
Mind you I 'don't' miss repairing all those 5 Speed FWD gearboxes!!

Cheers

Rare as hens teeth...although approx 8 yrs ago - I knew of one for sale for 50,000 UK pounds..
Serious car though...1.8 litre with up to 450 horsepower!

A person I used to work for (JYS) was involved in the 'Evo RS 200' development 2.2 litre 800+ horse power.

Considering the RS 200, is over 25 years old...it makes some of the cars here in Oz look a bit silly... hahahahaaa

Cheers
